Baby Boomer 819
@courtjestr19 Welcome everyone, We are now three days before the trade deadline and it is already more exciting than last season. Indeed, just a quick reminder that we did not even see a single trade at the trade deadline last season in the VHLM. Some people even called it one of the worst trade deadline in the history of the league. However, this season is completely different as three trades were already made and we can except a couples more before 3PM Monday. Three monster trades Houston Bulls and San Diego Marlins Two days ago, the Houston Bulls acquired one of the most coveted players of this trade deadline. Indeed, Cardinal Copia @Beketov is playing his last season in the VHLM before going to the VHL and will without a doubt be an important player for the Bulls in the playoffs. In return, the Bulls gave Nick Sansoe Jr @Tipskid97, their 5th round pick in S100 and their 6th round pick in S100. Sansoe Jr is a good prospect that will help the Marlins for another one or two seasons. Philadelphia Reapers and Miami Marauders This trade was a classic one for one as the Philadelphia Reapers traded their 1st round pick in S100 for the centerman Danny Ross @Spartakiller2. Ross is already a veteran in the league and he could maybe play another season in the VHLM and if it happens, Philadelphia really won that trade. On the other hand, if Danny Ross goes to the VHL next season, the trade becomes a little bit more equal, but I would give the edge to Miami this time as a 1st round pick in S100 as a lot of value. Houston Bulls and Mississauga Hounds To be completely honest, I am not entirely familiar with the rules about the number of draft picks in the VHLM, but I feel like this trade is about that. The Houston Bulls sent their 1st in S99 and their 4th in S100 and in exchange, the Mississauga Hounds traded their 2nd in S99 and their 3rd in S99. There isn't a lot to say about this trade, we just have to wait to see who each team drafted with their picks. #1 Houston Bulls Current record: 37-6-2 Current situation: Buyer The Houston Bulls are currently in a good position, they are first in the league, they won their last eight games, they only lost one game in their last eighteen games and everything seems to go perfectly. They already did a couple of trades to improve the team as they acquired Cardinal Copia recently and Dog Jagr @koty_k and Gingy @MexicanCow123 at the beginning of the season. I know I said that they were buyers, but if I was the GM of the Houston Bulls I wouldn't do anything else at this point and I would just keep the team like that. #2 Philadelphia Reapers Current record: 35-8-3 Current situation: status quo The Philadelphia Reapers are in a fun, but also a weird place right now. Objectively, I don't think anyone thought that the Reapers would be second in the standings at this point of the season, but here they are. In addition, almost every player on the team will be back next season, so again if I was the GM I wouldn't do anything this season and I would wait for next season when the team will be more ready. #3 Halifax 21st Current record: 25-13-7 Current situation: Buyer The Halifax 21st are almost in the same situation as the Philadelphia Reapers as almost everyone will come back next season, but the difference is that Halifax is going to lose some key players this off-season, that's why I would try to improve the team a little bit to compete this season. Their defense is looking good, but their offense could use the help of one or two other forwards to solidify the top 6. #4 Mexico City Kings Current record: 25-15-6 Current situation: Buyer With one of the best goalie in the league and probably the best defense in the league, Mexico City are a little bit disappointing this season. They are doing good as they are fourth in the league and one of the best team defensively, but they are struggling a little bit offensively. If they want to be the best team in the league, the Kings will have to acquire a first line forward that will help the offense for the rest of the season. #5 Mississauga Hounds Current record: 25-16-5 Current situation: Buyer/Seller The Mississauga Hounds are in a really tricky situation. I don't think they have the roster to compete with the best teams in the league, but they are not really far either. On the other hand, their best players are going to play in the VHL next season, so they have to do something with it. They honestly could do both, but they have to choose, they can't do nothing. They either buy to try to compete or they sell their best players to compete next season, but if they decide to keep the team like that, they won't win this season and will lose their players for nothing. #6 Saskatoon Wild Current record: 25-17-4 Current situation: Seller Almost in the same situation as the Mississauga Hounds, the Saskatoon Wild are in my opinion missing a little bit more pieces to compete with the top teams this season. With only five forwards and two defensemen, the team is a little bit short staffed and should consider selling their best players before they lose them for nothing at the end of the season. #7 Las Vegas Aces Current record: 18-21-6 Current situation: Seller The situation is pretty easy for the Las Vegas Aces as they objectively won't compete for the Cup this season, so the only other option is to sell. Since Mathias Gunnarsson @ThatCanadian is probably going to play in the VHL next season, the Aces could try to get something in return, but other than that, there's not a lot to do for them. #8 Ottawa Lynx Current record: 18-25-3 Current situation: Seller In my opinion, the trade deadline is going to be pretty quiet in Ottawa this season and there is not a lot to do. They are not going all in this season, so no need to trade for something and everyone on the team is coming back next season, so no need to trade anyone either. The only thing they can do is to keep their playoffs spot and maybe hope to cause a surprise in the playoffs. #9 San Diego Marlins Current record: 11-33-2 Current situation: Seller The San Diego Marlins already traded the only player they really had to trade in Cardinal Copia and now the only thing they have to do is wait for next season. If they have a good off-season, the Marlins are going to be really dangerous next season. #10 Miami Marauders Current record: 9-31-5 Current situation: Seller Just like the San Diego Marlins, the Miami Marauders already did what they had to do before the trade deadline when they traded Danny Ross. Now, there's not anything else to do and they just have to wait for the off-season to begin. That’s all for me, thanks everyone for reading. I wish you all a good end of the season and I'll see you in another VSN article soon!
