There were high expectations on Albin Aldgard when the D. C. Dragons selected him 4th overall in the S97 Entry Draft and the slick Swedish blueliner met those expectations and then some. His 15 goals and 40 assists for 55 points put him 6th in the S98 rookie scoring race and third among rookie defensemen.

His 40 assists and 55 points also set new franchise records for those stats by a first-year defenseman and his 15 goals are second-most behind Mark Calaway’s 18 markers in S89. His 2177 minutes played are also second behind Ben Laas’ 2196, his 153 shots are third and his 6 power play goals are fourth. As well, he became the fourth D. C. rookie defenseman to post two game-winning goals.

He’s also only one of six Dragons’ rookies to scoring 50+ points and his 40 helpers are tied with current teammate Tom Dufour for fourth-most by a rookie in franchise history.
