Checktalk: Bye Olynick?

Bahahahahah! Toronto missed the playoffs now that Calgary has officially clinched the third spot in the NA conference. Toronto will be in the lottery and guess what boys? They don't even have their first rounder. Toronto GM flipped their S42 first in exchange for a S41 Helsinki first to select Fedir Okranitz in the first round. Helsinki is now in position to select an elite player to help their team out so that will be interesting. Hearing rumblings that Sundberg, former Vasteras draft pick, is fed up and might actually go back to Vasteras. No idea if he will be in the VHL next season or playing for the Vasteras HK of HockeyAllsvenskan.

Some food for thought. Olynick may be dressing up for a different team, does this make sense? Don't know. He's pretty much signed for life by Cologne so the only way to get rid of him would be a trade. For S42, there isn't much room for him to play. Sinclair and Barnstormer are prospects that will be able to play straight in the VHL next season but there's also project Blake Campbell who could make a push. Olynick is too old for a team like Stockholm or Davos to use given their core's age. Why would Cologne need to trade their goaltender in hopes of a goaltending prospect? Any prospect would take 2 seasons to be a proper starter and Cologne is build of pieces that can win now. No point in parting with Olynick just yet but Toronto is a possible destination.

Nonetheless, I don't see Olynick as a piece that could fetch them a high enough pick to select one of Barnstormer or Sinclair. Campbell? Just maybe. Helsinki is a possible candidate but I just don't see it. Cologne should just ride it out with Olynick and look to groom a replacement in the near future. Might depend on this season's playoff run, if Olynick does bad then the GM might have a difficult decision on his hands.
