Mikkel Boomgaarden was at one point a top ranked prospect who had been selected fourth overall by the New York Americans in Season 39. Without much warning, Boomgaarden suddenly stopped showing up to practice and to team functions, only showing up to play games and then return home without speaking a word to his teammates. But the dark days of seclusion look to be over for the American defender, as he has finally started to show up around the arena and even looks interested in playing the sport again. While he might not be able to achieve the numbers that most expected from him at the beginning, he now has the chance to rise and become more than just a role player in the league.
