The Minot Gladiators lost in the VHLM semifinals against a very good team, Brampton Blades. Now postseason is over for Minot and the golf season begins.

 

It has been said many times already, but this was the last season for Minot. The series against Brampton was tough. During the series it was obvious that Brampton had more depth. The team from North Dakota did great and it is too bad that Gladiators couldn’t make it to the finals, though the series went to game seven.

 

I believe that we made it tough for Brampton to get four wins against us. In the last game we scored only one goal, which is disappointing. In the end, they were better, but we (Minot) had worked very hard and I guess we should be happy to have gotten semifinals. If only we had been just a notch better, we would be playing in the finals now. That is all history, like Minot Gladiators, and history cannot be changed. Good luck for both VHLM finalist teams! (I'm late with posting this)

The series against Brampton, any comments?

 

Umm… Tough series for sure. We had our chances to make it to the finals, but it wasn’t enough. I was hoping for better. It’s understandable though, we had an inexperienced, young team and many new guys, like me.

 

Have you enjoyed your time in Minot Gladiators?

 

Yeah, of course I have. I took all enjoyment out of the little time I spent here. My team mates were great and cool guys. I had fun times. It's sad that this is the last season... I will miss my team mates, all of them. I just can't name one guy specifically. Some of our guys will go to play with the big boys. Those who will go to VHL, good luck! I hope I can meet up with my "old" team mates in the future! But I can still spend some good time with them.

 

What about your performance in playoffs?

 

I didn’t do well and again I’m little bit disappointed with my performance. At least I got some ice time on the first line. But 3 assists? Meh. 8 checks? Hmph. I still didn't get any goals. Which is surprising and not surprising at the same time, because I had 13 shots and that is a pretty big amount of shots in my books, shooting is not my thing like I have already mentioned. Now I have this experience from playoffs and much time to develop, the whole offseason of hard work wouldn’t do bad. I have to get my game to next level and do a lot of work to get ready for it. Season 43 I’m coming!

 

The VHLM Dispersal Draft is here soon, so any wise words about the draft?

 

Oh yeah, the draft. I am really excited about it. It is always interesting to see how draft goes. I enjoy any kind of hockey related draft or offseason stuff. I think that I won’t be a very high pick in the VHLM draft, because I haven’t been playing at the level I was hoping I can. The VHL Draft will be very interesting too, it gets more attention than the VHLM Draft. I understand it, though. VHL is the big deal, you know?
