Renowned VHL member diamond_ace has become synonymous with the Calgary Wranglers organization throughout his time as a member in the league. His first player, Lars Intranquilo, was drafted to the Wranglers in S20 at 4th overall. This was an incredible steal in theory, as Cam Merrill was drafted 3rd to the Seattle Bears and promptly stopped doing anything. Even before the draft, Intranquilo was gaining on Merrill and was clearly the better pick, but Seattle management needed Merrill's position more than Intranquilo's. However, it was only a steal in theory and not in practice, because Intranquilo played like a 500 TPE player despite 956 TPE.

His second player, Clark Marcellin, never left the team, not even as a rental. He went down with the ship, and that ship crashed right into the pier. Marcellin was a far better player than Intranquilo but he still kind of wasn't that great, plus he got Higginsed out of a few awards (damn you David Smalling) including one year where he rightfully deserved to win the Boulet. Regardless, once Marcellin switched over to defense (again, anything for the Glorious Franchise of Wranglers) he started to have success, too little too late. 922 TPE kept him up near the top, though.

Martin Brookside came along next. Until his final two seasons with Cologne, he too was a Calgary lifer. In fact, he'd have stayed with Calgary if it had been best for the team, but it was not, and so he went to Cologne and won a cup (possibly two). Brookside is currently lame ducking it with Cologne and has 908 TPE to try to poach another cup for the Trains. The point is, anyway, as much as I'm enjoying Cologne...

I'm coming home.

Kerkko Hyvarinen is the second best player in the draft, a good margin behind Edwin Reencarnacion yet above upcoming future stars like Simon Valmount and Le'Sean Coutzen. The draft lottery just occurred, giving Calgary the second pick in the draft. It all seems like a perfect coincidence intended to send me back to the one place that's become synonymous with me as a member.

(Btw: If New York decides to take me at 1, I'm obviously very pleased with that turn of events as well, it just doesn't have enough of a story to make a 590)
