Americans to Use Power of Positivity to Change Quebec’s Mind [Final 6/6]

Well it didn’t take long for the off-season drama to kick off, did it? Less than 24 hours after the conclusion of the Continental Cup finals which saw the Calgary Wranglers crowned as champions, there have already been four trades sent to VHL administration for processing. As it turns out though, one of these trades looks like it won’t be put through after an eleventh hour rejection from Quebec City Meute General Manager Clinton Chevy. The Meute, who were looking set to start a rebuild for Season 45 after disappointingly missing the finals the previous season, were set to give up franchise goalie Niklaus Mikaelson in exchange for the ninth overall pick in the Season 45 Draft and failed prospect Jax Barnstormer. The deal had been agreed upon in private by both parties, so New York Americans General Manager Chris Miller went ahead and put forth the trade proposal to the VHL Administration. However, before the administration would receive acceptance of the deal from Chevy and the Meute, Barnstormer made a surprise announcement (it was a surprise as it had been his first off-the-ice sighting in over a month) to declare his retirement from the VHL, citing that he had no intentions of playing under Chevy. Since he had yet to send his approval to the VHL administration regarding the trade, Chevy was able to instead send his refusal, meaning that the trade is now currently in limbo.

DON'T YOU DARE BE SOUR, FEEL THE POWAAHHHH!

While one would expect some sort of deal to be confirmed upon in the future considering Niklaus Mikaelson’s anger with the Meute at the news that his trade to the Americans had been denied, the Americans seem to be attempting to smooth over what could potentially become a heated situation with the Meute. To attempt this, the Americans have sent over a group of three people called The New Day who believe in spreading positivity over the world to talk to the Meute about the positives of going through with the trade. We got a chance to talk to a member of The New Day, Xavier Woods, to see how he was going to try to convince Chevy that the deal isn’t so bad:

“So here’s an example right, see this clap right here”

Woods claps his hands together once, then twice in quick succession

“See how that makes you feel positive right there? That was the deal as it was presented, with Quebec getting Barnstormer and the first and the Americans getting Mikaelson. Now unfortunately Barnstormer is gone, but the Meute have to think positively! Let’s do another clap representing that trade”

Woods again claps his hands together once, but only follows it up with one more clap

“Now you see the difference there, there was less clapping there, but here’s the important point; there was clapping! There was positivity! Now, if they refuse this trade, this is what the clap sounds like”

Woods stands still, there is no clapping

“Do you see the problem here? If they don’t do this trade, there is NO positivity, there is NO clapping, nobody gets anything! And here’s the thing; either you clap or you snap! See, if they don’t do this trade they ain’t just getting nothing out of this trade but they’re bringing negativity to the franchise by having someone that doesn’t want to be there in the organization. Now if you’ll excuse me I seem to have misplaced my trombone, would you do me the honours of clapping me on the way out?”

Content 3/3 - I can't believe that I did not see this until now. Hopefully there is some form of trading my player to the squad that has the New Day on contract apparently. Also I loved seeing all of the drama play out, and it seems that New Day helped brovy find the positivity in all of this mess.

Grammar 2/2 - I was too distracted by how excited I was for a New Day MS. I found nothing.

Appearance 1/1 - New... Day socks!
