Tale of the Tape:

Brampton - 870 TPE

Moscow - 2,068 TPE

Clearly the Red Wolves have the advantage in the ever-so-important category of total points earned. This statistic isn’t always a clear indicator of who is going to win a certain game, but over the course of a seven game series it is very much a factor. The Red Wolves get production from all over the ice, but one glaring weakness compared to the Blades is at center. If there is one area where you want to have an advantage during the playoffs, it is here. Leadership means so much at this point in the season and the Blades could potentially have that edge on every shift. Moscow averages 71.3 TPE from their center position, while Brampton checks in at 102.3 TPE per center. If Brampton wants to have any chance at a VHLM season 45 championship, they must exploit the Moscow weakness at center.

Goaltending:

Brampton – Atticus Von Braxton IV (50 TPE), Chris Fekete (22 TPE), Corey Marino (0 TPE)

Moscow – Sandro Clegane (282 TPE), Lenny Face (65 TPE)

It is widely known in the game of hockey that goal tending wins championships. More specifically, hot goalies typically steal the show in the playoffs. The hottest one in the post-season thus far is none other than Sandro Clegane. The fact that they can run Sandro Clegane out there in every game is a huge advantage. Clegane has played great in the playoffs so far and it doesn’t look like he will slow down in the finals. Even if Moscow would start their backup, they would still have an advantage over all three potential Brampton goaltenders. The combination of Von Braxton IV and Fekete will need to play their best games of the season and hope that Clegane has a few bad games if Brampton wants to pull off the upset.

Star Power:

Brampton – D: Saul Hackett (174 TPE), C: Maxime Deschamps (128 TPE), C: Tom Lincoln (112 TPE)

Moscow – D: Arcturus Mengsk (242 TPE), RW: Pete Stockton (169 TPE), RW: Shawn Muller (166 TPE), RW: Jace Hines (159 TPE)

We know about the large difference in total points earned between these two teams, but how about the disparity between the best players on each team? Just like goaltending, production from top players often sets one team apart from the other in a seven game series. Pete Stockton, Shawn Muller, and Jace Hines can all put the puck in the net anytime they step onto the ice. The best part about that for Moscow? The fact that Arcturus Mengsk had more points than all three of them in the regular season. Even though Brampton brings a potential top two pick in the VHL draft to the table with Saul Hackett, their stars heavily outweigh the top players for the Blades.

Prediction:

Red Wolves win series 4-1
