By no means are any of them unbelievable, but there are many who have proven doubters wrong and some who have been less than stellar. For the current rookies, Zach Parechkin and Jeff Hamilton are the big ones who come to mind, but there are others who have surprised the league and taken it by storm. Oveparisechkin--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Leading the pack is none other than Zach Parechkin, who seems to be a player that may be getting a lot of media attention these days, and I suppose it's warranted. While he's not tearing apart the VHL in any aspect, he has impressed by producing at a point-per-game pace. Through 44 games so far, Parechkin has 44 points. While most would possibly assume that the majority of those would be goals, according to his credentials, that has not been the case. He currently has 21 goals and 23 assists, giving himself some superb two-way type player kind of statistics. I think it is obvious that a lot of that could be credited to linemate Max Molholt of course, who is just as, if not better than scoring goals than Zach Parechkin. Being on a line with Max will leave you open to earning assists, but that's not to say anything bad about Zach. He also is one of the top players in the hits category right now, with 182 holding down sixth overall. He remains the 10th best left winger in the league in points, at the moment. Freebies--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Coming up at a fairly close second to Zach Parechkin, which may surprise some, is World B. Free. B. Free also plays for the Toronto Legion, and coming into the VHL right away has not been a negative thing for him as many could have expected. World has likely surpassed many analysts predictions for his production, with 35 points. Just like Zach, World B. Free gains the benefit of having top minutes and is also sitting at 10th best in his position in the VHL. He has delivered 171 hits as well, being a physical force on the ice, although that seems to have come at a price. With all those hits being thrown, he has been one of the most penalized players in the league. With 110 PIM, the Legion are hoping that he can take it easy out on the ice going forward. Free has shown to have a defensive reliability as well, sitting at third best with 111 blocked shots to add to his skillset. The Legion's future looks bright. Heineken--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Holding down the third spot in rookie production is right winger Jace Hines. Just like the Toronto Legion, the Seattle Bears are going through a rebuild phase and players like Jace Hines get the plus of getting top minutes. Hines has amassed 30 points with 17 goals in 44 games. He's currently at 10th overall in the right wing position, and carrying a huge load on his shoulders as one of Seattle's main offensive contributors. Unlike his fellow rookies, Jace leaves much to be desired in the plus/minus column right now being a -44. He's also not throwing many hits or blocking many shots with only 25 and 11, respectively. In due time he will be a star for the Bears, and while the Stolzschweiger is a high hope, Jace Hines has been great.
