How do we choose the Top GM? Regular season success and winning the Continental Cup are a huge part of winning the top GM award. We can also look at drafting, free agency acquisitions and trades made during the season, but should the award be voted on for a season by season basis. This would mean that anything that happened before the previous off-season would be forgotten when choosing a top GM, which isn't fair because some teams are build entirely through the draft and will take 3-4 seasons to mature into a top team.

Should it be based on locker room activity, how many pages a season discussion thread generates, and maybe it's important to see how much TPE a team earns during the season. I'm far too lazy to calculate these numbers, but it isn't hard to see which teams have the most active players on their rosters. If a team full of inactive players wins the cup, but the 2nd place team is full of actives, I would tip the favor of the top GM award to the 2nd place team.

When it comes down to it someone who is voting (the GM's) they have an inside look into how the other GM's operate, that us regular folk don't get to see. If a team was built up 2 seasons ago, but made no moves during the current season because their roster was perfectly active and cap compliant, and they won a championship, why should that GM not win the top GM award. So overall it is best to look at how the team was built over a period longer than just one season, how active the team is, and how successful the season and playoffs were. It's a toughie.

This seasons final ballot, will (likely) come down to:

Helsinki (Shaw), Calgary (Gow) and Miller (NYA)
