Ripe Rookies - Part 2

Hello folks and welcome back for another edition of  "Ripe Rookies" where we will be taking a look and evaluating each VHL rookie on a number of different categories up to this point on the season. Last week, we evaluated a trio of rookies, in the form of New York Americans goaltender, Atticus von Braxton as well as Toronto Legion rearguard, Black Velvet and Cologne Express netminder, Artom Zhumbayev. Black Velvet and Atticus von Braxton each received a grade of A, while Artom Zhumbayev took a B- grade home. This week, we will be taking a look at and evaluating a trio of first-year forwards so let's get to the first rookie on the grading list this week.

Vincent Adultman - Center - HC Davos Dynamo

Vincent Adultman was HC Davos Dynamo's second selection and the seventh overall selection in the Season 47 VHL Entry draft and the big centerman, a native of California spent an extra season in the VHLM, winning a Founder's Cup with the Bratislava Watchmen prior to making the jump to the VHL in Season 48. He has suited up for all 40 games for Davos thus far this season, scoring 7 goals while adding 25 assists for a total of 32 points, ranking him third in team scoring. His plus/minus rating sits at a decent -7 on a bad team while logging 18 penalty minutes and delivering 38 body checks while being on the receiving end of 112 body checks. Adultman has taken 128 shots on net, giving him a 5.47% shooting percentage and he has blocked 26 shots directed towards the Davos net. He has logged over 25 minutes of ice time per game, scoring one game-winning goal and winning nearly 57% of his face-offs. For this performance, Vincent Adultman will receive a grade of A-.

Unassisted - Center - Quebec City Meute

Unassisted was selected by the Quebec City Meute with the second overall selection in the Season 48 VHL Entry Draft but unlike Vincent Adultman, he jumped stright into the VHL, rather than spending an extra season in the VHLM. That appears to have been the right move for Unassisted's development as he has been having a very decent season up to this point. He has played in all 40 games for Quebec City and ranks second on the team in points with 37, ten behind team-leader, Tom Lincoln. 16 of those points have been goals, while the other 21 have been assists and Unassisted sports a +10 rating on the season with 41 penalty minutes. He also has 50 hits on the season and 124 hits taken with 156 shots on net for a 10.26% shooting percentage. Unassisted has blocked eleven shots on the year in over 29 minutes on the ice per game, scoring three game-winning goals and winning over 51% of his 1531 face-offs taken. For that, Unassisted will take home a grade of A.

Vincent Virtanen - Left Wing - Riga Reign

Vincent Virtanen, drafted in the spot just ahead of Vincent Adultman in the Season 47 VHL Entry Draft with the sixth overall selection by the Riga Reign also spent an extra season in the VHLM before making the jump to the big club this year. Virtanen has laced up the skates for each and every one of Riga's 41 games on the season and currently sits tied for first on the team in points with 29. Of those 29 points, the Canadian winger has tickled the twine only three times but has added 26 helpers with a -12 rating on the last place Reign. Vincent has stayed very disciplined, logging only two penalty minutes on the season while delivering 16 body checks and receiving 99. He has taken 87 shots on net for a 3.45% shooting percentage, blocked 37 shots directed towards the Riga net, and has yet to score a game-winning goal. Vincent Virtanen's performance on the season will net him a grade of A-.

Well, that brings us to the end for this week folks. Make sure to come back next week for another edition of Ripe Rookies, when we will select a few more rookies to evaluate their performance up to this point in Season 48.

Review:

Speedy review, at your service! Good continuation of your last article. Out of all the profiles you wrote Unassisted seems to be the best one since he has the most points. The stats for this can be misleading, though, since all 3 are on rebuilding teams. Nice to see another Bratislava alumni represented!
