As a surprise to nobody, the defending Continental Cup Champion Toronto Legion have started off hot. After coming off of a brilliant 48th season, much was to be expected from the Legion. Captain Zach Parechkin and all others are back for a second go at this thing, and very few are expecting them to hit a decline. Along with Parechkin comes the quality of players that remain from last season. In Season 49, they aim to make it a repeat as cup champions.

In their past three games, the Toronto Legion took it to teams expected to make a strong push for the cup this season.

vs. Bears

Recently in their last game, the Legion faced off against the Seattle Bears, another favourite for contention. This game was one that greatly favoured Toronto with shots, where they put up 30 to Seattle's 16. Things did not kick off until after the midway part of the 1st Period, where Toronto was awarded a power play. Prolific scorer LeAndre St. Pierre opened the scoring for Toronto, with assists from Zach Parechkin and Max Molholt, and not long after that, the Bears took another penalty and Toronto scored once again. This time, Max Molholt potted one in off a pass from Black Velvet. Ten seconds after that 2-0 Molholt goal, Seattle's Simon Valmount brought the Bears within one to end the period 2-1 for the Legion. In the 2nd Period, no goals were to be had, but Toronto was putting the pressure on goaltender Sandro Clegane with 13 shots to 4 for the Bears. Into the 3rd Period it went, and this time the Bears outshot the Legion 7-5, but it was Toronto who scored an insurance marker, with World B. Free making it 3-1 on a pass from Benjamin Zeptenbergs and Zach Parechkin. The game ended that way, as Toronto played well defensively, with a good effort from Hans Wingate in net.

vs. Express

Two games ago, before the Bears one was one against the Cologne Express, who are looking to make their mark this season. They have put together a solid defense with their offense growing into their own. Shots were 10-10 a piece in the 1st Period, but scoring did not come until the 2nd Period. After the halfway point of the period, Toronto scored two quick ones, with Zach Parechkin and Benjamin Zeptenbergs hitting the mesh 24 seconds apart, bringing the Legion to a 2-0 lead. Only a few minutes later, Max Molholt made it 3-0, and late in the period, LeAndre St. Pierre basically put the nail in the coffin with a 4-0 marker as Toronto tilted the ice, 18-8 in shots. The Legion made it difficult for Cologne to come back in the 3rd, holding them to only 3 shots, and Hans Wingate held the door shut with a 21 save shutout to win the game 4-0. LeAndre St. Pierre and Max Molholt each had a goal and two assists.

vs. Americans

In the first of this three game stint, the New York Americans tested the Toronto Legion in a tough battle. Shots were low in the 1st Period as Toronto had the edge 6-4. At the 13:04 mark of the period, Benjamin Zeptenbergs scored his 4th of the season on the power play on a pass by Francis York Morgan. That tally held off for the rest of the period. In the 2nd Period, Toronto had the shot edge once again, this time doubling up New York 12-6. Five minutes into the period, Benjamin Zeptenbergs scored yet another goal, this time even strength, by FYM as well. Zep's 5th goal gave the Legion a 2-0 lead. However, late in the period, American forward E'Twaun Delicious brought New York within one with a goal at 14:56, from assists by Thaddeus Humbert and Kerkko Hyvarinen. Hans Wingate held off the Americans' firepower for the rest of the game though, and Toronto continued to out-shoot them, while Atticus von Braxton saved 30 of 32. Wingate saved 18 of 19 with his own efforts, and the Toronto Legion took that game 2-1.

The Toronto Legion currently sit on the top of the league with a 5-0-0 record, with the Quebec City Meute right behind them at 4-0-0 with one less game played. Toronto's offense continues to dazzle with Max Molholt and LeAndre St. Pierre sitting atop the VHL.

good article, seems like the same format you've been using in the SBA. noce work with leading Toronto to a undefeated record so far, though I hope you lay off soon! I want my Bears to start winning more games soon.

It's the "I don't know what to write about this week so I'll just recap the last 3 games" formula.
