FacePuncher 1,343
1st Overall - - D Black Velvet Stats - 248 GP, 68 G, 199 A, 938 S, 393 H, 349 SB TPE - 717 TPE Gain since draft day - +405 Black Velvet is, without a doubt, the most influential figure in this era of the VHL. His selection to the Toronto Legion marked the beginning of a dynasty that saw the first ever three peat in league history. A frontrunner for this year's top defenseman award, Velvet is 3 for 3 in Continental Cups, and is a lock for the Hall of Fame 2nd Overall - - C Unassisted Stats - 248 GP, 152 G, 184 A, 1574 S, 184 H, 98 SB TPE - 743 TPE Gain since draft day - +476 Last year's leading scorer has made an incredible jump to pass over Black Velvet as the leading TPE earner in the draft. He is still in Velvet's shadow because of losing to him in the playoffs, but thanks to over 300 career points so far he is building a fine case for himself as a hall of fame player 3rd Overall - - G Jakab Holik Stats - 210 GP, 83-111-16, 20 SO, .918 Sv%, 2.49 GAA TPE - 570 TPE Gain since draft day - +344 Holik was the first goalie off the board in the S48 draft, and he has performed just so-so up to this point, and the Dynamo gave up on him and opted to send him to Seattle in a deal for Sandro Clegane. Turns out that a change of scenery is all that he needed, as he has been one of the best goalies in the league with the Bears 4th Overall - - RW Tyson Kohler Stats - 248 GP, 129 G, 132 A, 1395 S, 304 H, 55 SB TPE - 694 TPE Gain since draft day - +467 Kohler was one of the big three skaters coming into this class that everyone wanted. So far he has done well, but not quite as well as people expected. Kohler is still at points per game level over his career, though, and he is currently on pace to have a career year, so his Hall of Fame hopes are far from dead. 5th Overall - - RW Bogdan Podarok Stats - 176 GP, 88 G, 78 A, 966 S, 107 H, 72 SB TPE - 569 TPE Gain since draft day - +436 Podarok spent his first year of eligibility in the VHLM, destroying the league, being names MVP, and leading the league in scoring. He lead the team in scoring last year, is locked up until his final season, and has emerged as one of the purest scorers in the draft. 6th Overall - - G Dmitri Dadonov Stats - 163 GP, 60-92-11, 17 SO, .924 Sv%, 2.73 GAA TPE - 489 TPE Gain since draft day - +313 Dadonov has been one of th steals of the draft, immediately traded to Helsinki for Greg Clegane and putting together the best rookie campaign since, well, Greg Clegane. Despite being robbed of the rookie of the year trophy, he has put together a very solid career so far, but the question is whether he can take the next step. 7th Overall - - D Pavel Komarov Stats - 176 GP, 23 G, 66 A, 320 S, 511 H, 214 SB TPE - 303 TPE Gain since draft day - +206 Despite the GM not even wanting this pick, Komarov has clearly been deserving of the 7th overall billing. Despite not being a skilled offensive player, Komarov has shown that he can be a big part of his team with his defensive prescense. 8th Overall - - RW Kendrick Cole Stats - 176 GP, 53 G, 82 A, 697 S, 170 H, 113 SB TPE - 201 TPE Gain since draft day - +29 Cole has been a pretty big part of the Legion recently, despite not showing up to practice much. Cole surprised everyone by finishing at points per game pace last year, and he even ranks 4th on this list in assists over Bogdan Podarok. Cole should continue his impressive scoring, but it's unlikely he improves much 9th Overall - - D Nikki Kissanen Stats - 32 GP, 2 G, 9 A, 27 S, 62 H, 49 SB TPE - 249 TPE Gain since draft day - +160 Kissanen took his sweet time making it to the VHL, but he made it. He's been traded twice already, but is looking to make a home in New York. So far he has struggles out of the gate, but thanks to a weak rookie class he is a top contender for rookie of the year. 10th Overall - - D Cian Mercer Stats - N/A TPE - 95 TPE Gain since draft day - 0 Mercer was a standout in the VHLM and a top assister, but he retired before playing a single VHL game 11th Overall - - D Titan Kronos Stats - N/A TPE - N/A TPE Gain since draft day - N/A Quebec used their 11th overall pick to take Titan Kronos. However, Kronos was a S49 draftee, so he wasn't eligible to be selected. 12th Overall - - D Dope Fiend Stats - 72 GP, 6 G, 7 A, 45 S, 55 H, 46 SB TPE - 85 TPE Gain since draft day - 0 Dope Fiend was cut by Toronto, signed by Stockholm, and then traded to Davos. After a one year stint with Davos that didn't work out well, he was let go. He now plays for the Saskatoon Wild in the VHLM. 13th Overall - - RW Rock Soapwart Stats - N/A TPE - 59 TPE Gain since draft day - 0 14th Overall - - RW Pavel Varushkin Stats - N/A TPE - 49 TPE Gain since draft day - 0 15th Overall - - LW Adrian Kharmalov Stats - N/A TPE - 37 TPE Gain since draft day - 0 16th Overall - - LW Pavel Ovechkin Stats - N/A TPE - 36 TPE Gain since draft day - 0 17th Overall - - D Randy Savage Stats - N/A TPE - 32 TPE Gain since draft day - 0 18th Overall - - C P.J. Jackson Stats - N/A TPE - 30 TPE Gain since draft day - 0 19th Overall - - LW Jamie Benn Stats - N/A TPE - 30 TPE Gain since draft day - 0 20th Overall - - LW Sid Crosby Stats - N/A TPE - 30 TPE Gain since draft day - 0 21st Overall - - LW Adam Holmstrom Stats - N/A TPE - 30 TPE Gain since draft day - 0 22nd Overall - - C Rene Bergeron Stats - N/A TPE - 30 TPE Gain since draft day - 0 23rd Overall - - LW Sterling Archer Stats - N/A TPE - 60 TPE Gain since draft day - +30 Big props to Davos' scouts for taking the player 23th overall who is currently ranked as the 11th best player, but despite that the legendary super spy still hasn't made it on a VHL roster. 24th Overall - - D Sean Connery Stats - N/A TPE - 30 TPE Gain since draft day - 0 25th Overall - - D Xavier Laine Stats - N/A TPE - 30 TPE Gain since draft day - 0 Edited October 9, 2016 by ADwyer87 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/34379-claimedtime-for-another-s48-draft-review-reviewed/ Share on other sites

Smarch 3,192
Review: 1,234 Words Overall not a bad draft especially the first seven picks. Many of these picks have been a clog in the VHL since they entered in their rookie seasons and it's looking no different moving forward for most of them. Good article and good short insight into their VHL careers so far. Grammar: Very well done for 1,000+ words lead=led th=the prescense=presence Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/34379-claimedtime-for-another-s48-draft-review-reviewed/#findComment-379154 Share on other sites
