Still Excited About Saskatoon

As you can tell, I'm very excited about the Saskatoon Wild this year. I think this could be the year the Wild get back the cup, and even if they don't I can't see myself losing the Jack Reilly Trophy after making as many moves as I did and bringing in a full roster. In other words, I think this could be the defining moment in my GM career, the moment I go from VHLM also-ran to VHLM (and eventually VHL?) legend. Anyways, enough fellating my ego, I don't want to pull a brovy and jinx myself out of a cup, plus as the last few sims showed we are definitely not without fault. Let's get onto what I wanted to talk about, the 5 reasons I feel confident about this team for both this year and next.

 

1. We're in first: It can't get better than first place, folks. I am loving the fact that we are going to have a first week bye, especially after seeing my best chance at a Founders' Cup dashed by a team that I thought we could beat. I'm hoping that will be a difference maker
2. We have a ton of games against Oslo left: 6 to be exact, plus one against Ottawa. That's essentially 14 easy points for our team. So if we go .500 against the rest of our comp, and sweep these non-playoff guys, we should still easily retain first place
3. Someone once said morale was important: I don't remember who did, but someone said it at some point on here. And right now Sasky has a 56 morale, best in the VHLM
4. We're retaining a lot of our roster: so obviously the Syndergaards, Sharpe, McChunky, Balders, Fiend, Finn, Sokolov, and mist4ke won't be returning to the team, and Jokinen will likely be in the VHL, but I should be able to get Lee back as an active FA, plus another inactive FA. DeGrath is the key, if he stays under 200 TPE he will likely stay with us and that will be a massive help to our team. Other than that we should have 6 returning members with over 100 TPE(Styles, Hickey V, Jenkins, Domi, Zayn, and Kopralkov) which will be fucking awesome. Plus.....
5. I've got all my S53 and S54 picks: so, since in this cycle that (if it succeeds and I continue it) will likely consist of 2 years of contending and 2 years of being shit, I won't trade my S54 first round pick. But what I will try to do is trade all my S53 picks and my 2nd and 3rd round S54 picks to get a better team. So that should make us competitive next year too. After that it's just time to stockpile S55 picks.
