The ASG thing is boring!

Yes yes, I'm back on my bitching shit after a very successful SBA ASW, where both of my players made a big splash in their respective contests. I have hard times to recall the last time I had a fun in the All-Star week. Probably only S48 and S49. In S48, Benjamin Zeptenbergs finally made it into the ASG to just post -4 ratio. And then S49, when I tried to push B.Z. into the voting (and actuall I did, but he got only 1 vote, if I recall right); also, I tried to figure it out why Lord Karnage is even on the voting list (he had a weak season in the Vikings before he was traded to NY). Other than that, I just didn't give a single shit about the ASG thing. And I will not attend to S51 ASG. It's just 12 TPE...not for me, because I have nothing much to say about this thing. 

 

I really was hoping Petenis is going to continue his great rookie play. He had something like 18-19 points in 40+ games with solid hitting and shot blocking stats. Then he started to slacking - he stopped to help Holik with his SB, his offense fell off real quick (which is not surprising: he's a DD and I bet he will never score more than 50-60 points in his career) and the dreams about entering into the ASG as a rookie were shattered into small pieces. Heck, I don't even know if he's gonna be a RoTY: Dotran is being solid lately and Skye isn't a gift as well. Sad lyf.

To be fair I pushed pretty hard for Petenis to get on the public voting list. And if he would have made it I probably would have voted him too. People don't appreciate defensive stats as much as they should.

That's why Petenis probably will never win the best defenseman award. It's all about points. And then hits and shot blocks.

It isn't ALL about points, but you need to at least have a point per game traditionally. Hits and SHotblocks matter more than you think they do.

 

Speaking as a 4-time consecutive Labatte winner I had some mediocre offensive seasons.

Indeed, and it may be in my head, but I feel like lately there's been a bit of a lazy trend in defensive nominees and voting. I feel like the focus on points has increased a bit, though this might partially be because more defencemen in the league are offensively focused, thus the disparity between d-men with high points and d-men with good defensive numbers has increased.
