Alexander Labatte is not the most decorated goalie in VHL history but he certainly is one of the best.  Despite winning just one Continental Cup and three Aidan Shaw Trophies, Labatte ranks at the top of nearly all goalie stats all-time.  Many think privately that Labatte had a great career but most don't actively talk about it.  There aren't many conversations that would put him on par with Kanou or other great legendary goalies but Labatte beats them all in many categories.  The most notable are listed below:

Games Played - 1st - 515

Wins - 2nd - 335

Save% - T5th - 0.924

G.A.A. - T2nd - 2.01

Minutes - 1st - 31,127

Shutouts - 1st - 69

Penalty Shot Saves - 2nd - 138

What do you think?  Is Alexander Labatte as good as the rest?  Does he belong in the conversation as possibly the greatest goalie in VHL history?  I certainly think he is in that debate.  Check the link below for an updated listing of goalie stats through Season 35.

The joy of Edit by lines.

Anyway, one of the greatest? Yes. The greatest? No. No one actually stands out as the obvious best goalie ever. But Labatte has less Shaws than Shaw, less cups than Kanou. And save % is like .009 between 15 goalies. Which is almost negligible.

Anyone high in several categories is pretty awesome. Speaking of which, CAL G needs more love.
