Threencarnacion's "losses" are complete and utter bullshit

Recommended Posts

Edwin Threencarnacion has had a hell of a season coming off the bench for the Quebec City Meute. His current save percentage stands at .932%, a solid total for a rookie goalie, and only one goalie with more game-time (Cologne's Dmitri Dadonov) has recorded a higher percentage. While his save percentage has been stellar, Edwin has yet to record a win. That is not entirely unexpected, none of the 15 games that he's played have been starts and he's only entered games when his team has already conceded 3 goals (which would be enough goals to beat the Meute the majority of the time). What is disappointing though is that he has three losses to his name with one in OT. Why is that disappointing? Well because it's straight up bullshit! Here are the three losses and why they suck.

The OTL

Vs Cologne

Result: 4-3 Cologne in OT

Time when Edwin entered: 0:25 in 3rd

Score when Edwin entered: 3-1 Cologne

QUE G Stats: 21 of 24 (0.875, 3 GA)

Edwin Stats: 11 of 12 (0.917, 1 GA)

So this one I completely understand, and it is fair in a ways that yes I did concede the goal that resulted in us losing in OT. But at the same time, come on man! My goalie play helped us stay in the game, as we came from 2 goals down to take it to OT. I guess in some ways I can take that OTL as a positive in that my goalie play helped us earn a point we may not otherwise have won, but when you look back at these stats, people don't remember the reasons why you picked up the OTL.

The L's

Vs. Americans

Result: 4-3 Americans

Time when Edwin entered: 8:39 in 2nd

Score when Edwin entered: 3-0 Americans

QUE G Stats: 15 of 18 (0.833, 3 GA)

Edwin Stats: 24 of 25 (0.960, 1 GA)

The only argument I could possibly make here is that technically, since I conceded a goal in a game we lost by one goal, I did lose us the game. But at the same time, how can anyone look at those stats and say I'm the goalie that lost us the game?

Vs. Reign

Result: 4-3 Reign

Time when Edwin entered: 8:54 in 1st

Score when Edwin entered: 3-1 Reign

QUE G Stats: 6 of 9 (0.666, 3 GA)

Edwin Stats: 39 of 40 (0.975, 1 GA)

Edwin plays at HOF level, gets loss

QUE G plays like he's got a shit in his pants, doesn't get the L

So I guess if the team ends up losing by one goal, your goalie gets the loss? How strange.

Looks like that's the way unfortunately. Those are the only three we've lost by one and I've played in though, so if the inevitable fourth instance of this happens but I don't end up being awarded the L, that's the point where we flip over the table, say "Fuck This!" and leave.

well yea that's how it works in the NHL too if your team is losing by the time you come in and your team ties it up? now you will either get the W or the L if your team scores or if the other team scores.

But that's the thing, we never tied it up (outside of the OTL obviously, but you weren't referring to solely that). Pretty sure I already told you that as well <_<
