Disclaimer: This means little to you if you aren't a VHL GM.

One thing we were glad to be able to do with the 2nd player system was give GM's some more freedom as one of the big drawbacks to GM'ing used to be that you missed out on a lot of aspects of a career. That being said, the lack of any rules surrounding how GM's can swap their own players in and out as GM players is a problem and is open to abuse. Admittedly, it was an oversight in the planning process of 2nd players that never really got discussed until it started to come up.

We decided the best option for simplicity and fairness is to essentially revert back to the way GM players used to work. This means there will be one GM player who is locked in so long as that member is GM, and that GM player can't be traded unless it's a retire/recreate scenario. The old rule requiring there to always be a GM player remains and only one GM rule player can be living at a time. The ONLY way a 2nd player can become a GM player is if he is on the team and the previous GM player retires. However, you would only elect to do this if you didn't want to have 2 players as you would be eligible to create a new player via the GM Recreation Rule without affecting your 2nd player, even if you owned him.

With these new rules, it isn't reasonable to restrict GM's to the rule requiring a members players to be 3 seasons apart. GM's will be exempt from this from now on.

We apologize that this comes after such swaps have already been made but we feel making the change is for the best, even late. This is effective immediately, and all players that are currently GM players are locked in. In the case of Cologne, Jarvi will be the GM player as Thrower was drafted fairly by Cologne.

Thank you,
