Higgins 3,618
The New Titans Going into the off-season the Titans formally put their first round draft picks on the trade block to see if they could get any enticing offers. These draft picks included the 3rd overall lottery selection and the Titans own 7th overall selection. The proposals that were sent to the Titans management for both draft picks were down right embarrassing. This draft had talent that could normally be considered top four selections into the late first round, and the depth ensured that the 7th overall pick would bring in an impact player ready to play on the roster immediately. Any upgrades that could have been made to the roster by trading the 3rd or 7th overall draft picks wouldn't have been any better than the players that could be acquired through the draft. The Titans had messaged six prospects for their draft combine that they thought would be available at 3rd overall or 7th overall. Out of the six prospects contacted only one was eliminated based on their response to the draft combine, and it wasn't due to unfavorable answers, it was because of one word responses. Days after the combine the Titans were contacted by one of their remaining five targeted players, that player told management that they were leaving the league and that they wouldn't be updating any further. This brought the prospect pool from the Titans combine down to four players, which included three possibilities for 3rd overall, important in case two of them went 1st and 2nd overall, and our primary target remained for the 7th overall pick. In the end the Titans decided to grab the bulls by the horn and allow themselves to make their own decision on the player they wanted to draft and not let other teams dictate our future. The Titans concocted a draft day trade to 1st overall from 3rd overall, they also retained the 7th overall pick. This meant that the Titans had narrowed down the list of players they wanted in the draft to two. 7th Overall - Rudolph Schmeckeldorf - @Corco At 7th overall the Titans selected the Yukon Rush winger Rudolph Schmeckeldorf. The Titans had a good idea that he would be available at 7th overall, but to see that his name was not scratched off the draftee list in the official draft thread when it was time to make that 7th overall selection, the Titans management was doing internal fist pumps. Rudolph Schmeckeldorf had favored well coming out of the Titans draft combine and after his incredible streak of TPE earning in the VHLM it was the perfect pick for the organization. Going into the next season the Titans had a roster with five returning forwards, which meant they needed one more winger to fill out the team. "To add a winger of Rudolph Schmeckeldorf's talent and development at 7th overall is unheard of, we are pleased with the player and the person who has joined the Titans organization and look forward to watching him grow with the team" said Titans GM after the draft. 1st Overall - Hudson Abbott - @Bushitroll When a team moves up in the draft to 1st overall, they clearly have their sights set on drafting one player. The Titans had been monitoring the growth of defenseman Hudson Abbott through the season and he showed remarkable TPE increases every week, which caught the eye of the scouting department. The Titans were open to drafting a first gen player with their top pick, but when it was revealed that Hudson Abbott was represented by a veteran player agency it increased the interest of the Titans a little more. On draft day the Titans decided to move up to 1st to guarantee themselves the player they wanted, and to reward Hudson Abbott with the historic 1st overall status for his hard work leading up to the draft. The Titans needed a 4th defenseman to round off their roster, and adding Hudson Abbott to a contender was the perfect fit because within the next two to three seasons he will be a true number one defender to lead the Titans blue line of the future. For now, Hudson Abbott can play comfortably behind Black Velvet, but soon this defense core will be his to lead. "Trading to first overall to get the player we wanted is a move I would make any day of the week. Hudson Abbott has brought youth to our defense and we are hoping he develops into a multiple Labatte Trophy winner in the future, a true leader on and off the ice." said the Titans GM post-draft. DollarAndADream 3,357
Review: Very good draft for you guys this off-season. I especially look forward to the growth of Hudson Abbott. After Bushito going all Bushito awhile ago and now returning to the league, it would be awesome to see him make a superstar. I mean, he's the reason I'm the Head of PT Staff too.
