Gooningitup 1,290
To say its the year of the defender in the VHLM, would be an understatement. 4 of the top 5 VHLM scorers are defenders. 2 of these are career VHLMer Jon Snow, and Ho Lee Fook. Both of whom are just benifiting off a ton of playing time, not so much skill. Louth and Jones are the top 2 scorers, both are top end prospects heading into this draft. Defenders teams can build around. Louth plays a ton on an extreamly weak and shallow, Saskatoon squad. Well Jones plays on a stacked defense core in Vegas, where all 4 defenders are active updaters. Jones is likely the run away MVP with a big scoring gap, well being a defender. However, the lone forward is argueably more important. All you need to do is look at the league leaders, goals, faceoff%, hits, GWG, Fights,Hattricks. He leads them all, points per 20 and penalty minutes he sits 3rd. He is a jack of all trades, his plus minus sits 2nd lets not forget that. All this well having a GM who disapeared mid season. The aces center doesnt care, who wins MVP, he would be happy if teammate Jones wins it. After all he is having a historic season for a defender. Its been a rather quick turn around for the enegmatic russian. Who called out his GM, and a teammate when the team was in the midst of a major struggle. That outburst, led to a coaching change abit over a week later. Since that change, 2 things have happened, Komarov had caught back up in the scoring race he was leading for 30+ games. Casey Jones, sky rocketed to the top of the scoring heap. All well Vegas, boasts a 13-2 record since. Yes that is right 13-2, the Aces not only took top spot away from Ottawa, who had it all season long, but are now argueably the favourites to win it all. If the Aces make the finals, that would make 3 seasons straight, and 3 in 3 seasons. A cup would make 2 in 3 seasons aswell. A new franchise that just seems to ooze, confidence. Its not guarunteed they will make the finals, look at last season Oslo was expected to take it all, only to fall second round to well the Aces. They Aces know they can not get too cocky, they need to keep putting in work to win a cup. If the Aces are going deep it will be more than just, Jones and Komarov. Though they are the engine that, drives the team. But the rookies that help fill the core out, Calder O'Callahan, Colton Rayne, and Tomas Shankra. Broduer will need to prove that the 4 game finals series last year was just a fluke, if Vegas is going to go far and win a title. der meister and Spade18 2 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/43977-claimed-year-of-the-defense-hulking-center-stands-out-12/ Share on other sites

TheLastOlympian07 2,388
Review It was a nice little turnaround for us this season. I hope we can go all the way because well i mean who doesn't want to win all the time. Hopefully Brodeur can be good for once Spade18 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/43977-claimed-year-of-the-defense-hulking-center-stands-out-12/#findComment-469625 Share on other sites
