interesting fact about Guntis Petenis

In Season 54, Guntis Petenis played for the Riga Reign. The team wasn't great, but they made the playoffs at least despite being a rebuilding team. They lost to the Titans, who would go on to win the Cup, in the first round of the playoffs. Petenis was the only worthwhile vet on the team, so the following season, as they were still rebuilding, Petenis was traded to the Quebec City Meute. The Meute were in search of a Continental Cup, but failed to accomplish the goal. They made it to the finals, but lost to the Helsinki Titans. Quebec came into S56 as one of the top teams with Petenis on the roster, but in order to make cap space, they ultimately let him go mid-season. New York picked him up off waivers and traded him to Davos, who are currently in the playoffs.

With the Dynamo, Petenis was able to do what he could not with Riga in S54 and Quebec in S55: beat Helsinki in the playoffs. The series went to Game 7, but Davos clutched it out. What I find most interesting about all of this is that Davos is currently up against Riga in the Conference Finals. And, if the Dynamo can win this series, it will likely be Quebec that they would see in the finals.

I just think it's interesting that the three top teams remaining in the playoffs all had this one player on their roster within the last three seasons. It's not often that active veterans will go from one top team to another this often (granted, Riga was not yet a top team when he was there).
