Staring at the stats [1/2]

Season 59 has started! Every team has played 7 games so far in the regular season, so it´s obviously too early to say anything about what the standings for example will be when season ends, but I thought I still take a quick look on some of the more interesting stats!

Davos is last in the league with 0 points, the only team who has not managed to collect any points yet. With a quick look someone could say they are not going to have a good year, but before you say that, see Davos and their schedule so far in the season, Bears three times and Riga once, that is two really good teams to play against four times out of seven, so it´s not a big surprise after all that they have not managed to add points into the standings so far.

Quite interestingly Davos has the third best powerplay in the league with 25%, but they have only scored 6 goals so far in the year, Davos also has third best PK in the league with rating of 77,42. Mysterious start for them even if the schedule has not been the easiest one, but special teams seems to be clicking quite nicely and that promises positive things for Davos when going forward.

Rudolph Schmeckeldorf and Franchise Cornerstone with hell of a start to the season! Helsinki duo is leading the league in scoring, both have 16 points in 7 games. Rudolph has nine goals, which is highest in the league - Krigars from Riga is at the same number. Franchise has eight. What makes the top goal scorer race interesting is Franchise and his penalty minute numbers, Franchise has 22 in 7 games while Rudolph and Krigars are at 0 and 4.  If Franchise wants to keep up with the two, he really needs to find a way to take less penalty minutes, because in the long run time spent in the penalty box could be a difference maker, cant score while sitting in the box and at the same time for example Rudolph is not going to score too many goals while his teams is on the PK.

Speaking of penalty minutes, those 22 penalty minutes from Franchise Cornerstone is the most anyone has managed to collect, Louth in Quebec comes close with 21 and Dortch in Davos the third player with over 20 penalty minutes in 7 games, Dortch has 20.

Jacob who is the number one goalie in Helsinki has managed to keep his net empty three times already, but the star goalie so far in the season has been Rhett Degrath in New York, 1.68 goals against on average and 93.8 save percentage! Both are league leading numbers. Jacob has 93.8 save percentage as well, but despite having three shutouts, his goals against on average rating is 1.83. Degrath has ´only´ one shutout. Not a surprise to see New York being first in the standings, Degrath has been on fire.

There are more interesting facts and stats than just these on both in the teams and on the individual side, but I cant unfortunately write anymore today - I must head off to late night practice in fifteen minutes, this is what happens when you come in late to morning practice, you gotta come in for extra work on the evening.

Penalty box is the best box
