Just before the season 61 draft Quebec traded David Kiaskov to the New York American's for a 2nd round 11th pick and a 1st rounder in season 62's draft. This trade should help both clubs with Kiaskov bringing his grinding two way play to help New York take another run at the cup next year, and the Meute will receive a solid early 2nd round pick now and hopefully an up and coming player in next seasons draft.

With this move, New York gets some immediate help in Kiaskov with the future departure of Boeser while Quebec receives a solid pick in a draft that is fairly deep for the first dozen picks.

We won't know for certain who came out on top with this trade until next years draft, but right now it seems pretty even with both teams benefiting. The Meute will get a young promising player picking in the 11th spot regardless of who's available.

And only time will tell if Quebec's pick for Kiaskov pans out or becomes a bust. Plus, depending on S62's draft stock Quebec could come out ahead in this deal.

What can New York expect from RW Kiaskov? A hard hitting offensive two way grinder who plays with an edge to his game. He excels in the face off circle, and has the ability to change the flow of the game with a big hit or fight.

Kiaskov is comfortable with any role given to him and his on ice play allows him to be effective in any on ice situation.

So the Americans can expect a solid all around game from Kiaskov while he brings a positive attitude to the locker room and can fill any role on the ice.

During a recent press conference by an independent local sports station, Kiaskov was asked how he felt about leaving Quebec for New York:

" Well to be honest, you can't really think about it too much" he says. "Playing pro hockey has always been a dream of mine and I've been fortunate enough to be able to make it this far".

"But honestly, nobody for the most part doesn't wanna be told that they're being traded. "I think if affected me more getting drafted by Davos and then soon after I, was shipped out to Quebec".

"As for my recent move to New York, I think the difference was having GM Beave trying to accommodate me and leave the ball in my court with some of the say". "Plus already having experienced going through the process, I was less affected by the trade".

" I also knew that Beave wanted to go with youth, so it makes sense to move me while he can to improve the club for the future". "I'm totally OK with it, hockey is a sport and there's also the business side of it". "And I'm excited to play with a new team and bunch of great players. "Hopefully we can repeat this past seasons efforts and bring home the cup".

And there you have it folks, it should be interesting to see how this transaction plays out for next season.

Review:

It's sad that Kiaskov didn't do better this season. He still did great obviously, but with his attributes and how good his team is, he should have had a ton of points at least. :(
