Rumour Central

The Victory Hockey League postseason is in full swing as we have entered the thirty-sixth instalment of the special series. With some of the most surprisingly endings to the season in quite a while their were tons of rumblings around the league on this off-seasons landscape. With the Seattle Bears beating out the New York Americans for the final North American Conference playoff spot, it opened up some more possibilities. Over in Europe, Cologne was able to hold off Vasteras, which only adds to the drama for the off-season. We have been given the inside track on some possible trades and signings for the off-season.

On The Block:

Word on the street is that Teemu Lehtinen is on the market and teams may bite at the chance to grab a great depth player with a high upside. Toronto currently is in a bye for the first round so they have tons of time to talk with teams. Lehtinen is no newspaper front pager but on a team with balanced scoring he did reach a point-per-game pace the entire year. The veteran Fin might be elsewhere because of cap issues next season that Toronto may fall under. Keep an eye on this developing situation.

Sure Bet:

Vasteras still owes Cologne in the second part of a mid-season trade that they pulled. Many league sources had a big name going back the other way (possibly Kameron Taylor) but we can shoot that down for you right now. The deal in place sees Vasteras giving up a 2nd round pick in the S39 draft in which they agreed to in the Lauris Prikulus trade. Nothing major in this trade, just a depth move by the Iron Eagles that stems from an early deal.

Looking Elsewhere:

Felix Zamora could be looking at another club, which could make it his third in a 2-year span. Zamora of course chose to sign in Quebec City this past off-season in hopes of fighting for a Continental Cup. Zamora still is considered a young player with great upside. Tough to say where he will end up but we could see him in a Toronto Legion uniform or possibly a Riga Reign uniform after the draft.

Era Done:

An era seems to be nearing an end in Cologne with what is no secret around the league. General Manager Joey Kendrick looks to pass the torch to young David Collier this off-season. Kendrick has told the league officials that it is pretty much a sure thing. Kendrick is leaving to attend to his family and focus on law firm in which he works for. Kameron Taylor heard the news and quickly backed the man who drafted him back in S31.

Draft Trade Looming:

Our sources have told us a possible draft shuffle may occur this year with all the talent in eligible. New York owns three of the first four picks in the draft and may possibly move one of them to acquire more depth down the road. Sources say that Tom Slaughter will most likely be their first selection when they go up at the number two spot.

Hidden Talent:

A scout told us a certain agency has picked up and signed a prospect for the upcoming draft. Unsure of the agency involved but the pedigree has a high ceiling. Tons of potential and may fly under the radar. If General Managers do their homework correctly they will have a couple hidden gems show up.

Content: 3/3 - Interesting read, love these sort of articles. Keep it up!

Grammar: 2/2 - Two rather silly ones:

instalment = installment
this off-seasons landscape = this off-season's landscape

Appearance: 1/1 - YUP.

Overall: 6/6 - Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum for thee!
