Very simple design with the logo centered nicely. I think it would've looked good if you made the logo more transparent with less opacity, so you could see through it.

Another cool touch would have been to add Ottawa's players names and let's say an opposition teams players names as well on the ice where they would all line up for a center face off. You could've even put little players like SNES NHL 93 players on ice with their names beside each character.

And maybe have "Ottawa Lynx" also placed onto the ice surface.

Keep on doin these and don't be afraid to add more effort and other techniques to gfx to make it more aesthetically appealing. ☺

why am i getting this 2 months after the fact? thats kind of a shitty way of saying "welcome to the league and good work, but now that you are established we will say what we want because we know you've been here a while".

My guess is because it was just reviewed and bumped on Sunday.

 

Honest question: how long did this take? I'm not trying to pile on, but even I could do this.

took about 15 minutes. i didn't just place the logo, you can see the blade marks on top of the logo as well. what takes some of the guys around here a short time might not take guys like myself the short time because not everyone is skilled. i only got photoshop in august so im trying to learn how to use different things.

I personally think it's fine for a start. As long as you show improvements week to week, what's worth a 6 for you doesn't have to be the same as what's worth a 6 for others.

Lack of reviewers in the VHL as of late. Things slip by.

 

I'm being civil here, and I always allow early work to go by no problem. I'm aware of different skill levels, but this in itself just didn't sit well with me.

This could be done with 2 layers, reducing the opacity of the Lynx logo to like 80% or something.

 

I'm not trying to be a dick. You can have the 6 for this of course, especially since the review is late, so that's no issue for me. I'm just letting you know .

which is fine, but then at the same time it sounds like the review given by the initial review is different from yours. that's not a me issue, that's a confusing sign to have two people with different opinions but both in the same position? seems like both your signals are crossed. not to mention if you expect me to be really good a month in then I guess i should quit while im ahead.

Don't quit. Keep going.

 

He's a reviewer, and I'm the Head of PT Staff. So sometimes a regular reviewer will come in and be a little more slack, but I try to look everything over when I can.

 

I was probably a little harsh in the first post if I'm being honest, but my point still stands. Of course you still get your points, and I wasn't going to take anything away, especially considering the age of the post.

 

 

But seriously, keep chugging along. All of us graphics guys started where you did. In fact, I never even got decent at making sigs until I came on to this website. I improved while following some constructive criticism from some of the reviewers and big graphic heads here. Improvement will definitely come if you keep going.

of course i will. but it just seems like steps backwards considering this was posted a couple months ago and I like to think i improved since that time

   In all honesty everyone's first few are not the greatest, mine included. Go look at some of my earlier ones in the archive's to see how I started out. From my first gfx to present time I spend on average around two hours per SIG and this is all done on an android phone with a stubby Dollar Store stylus.

   The review I gave you was hopefully encouraging but I was also being lenient as well. I personally think this gfx was a good start but could've been improved upon with a little more time involved. 

No one expects you to be good in a month and as you know, you only get better with practice. So don't let a little constructive criticism get you down or piss you off. Its just a game and we're all here for some fun so don't take it too seriously. I look forward to reviewing your other graphics as you post them as well! So keep it up Monkey.
