Lots of stuff going on around the league of late. The playoffs finally finished, after a bit of a delay. We had a the full breadth of the new Brand and Sponsors Shield also get announced. Will finally unveiled the work he's been doing on the team management aspect of the Portal. But amidst all that chaos one of the more longer tenured GM's of all time @DollarAndADream finally decided to call it a career in Toronto after many seasons. It was a long road for Dollar, as Season 62 marked his 9th season as GM of the Legion.

Unfortunately despite some quality teams the Legion were never able to make it deep. In those 9 seasons, Toronto had only 5 playoff appearances and no final appearances. As someone myself who once took over for a GM in New York who made it very close but couldn't win a Cup, this is certainly a similar but still different scenario. Not even getting close enough to sniff a Cup in so long is hard on a GM and a franchise. It can make you think that perhaps you didn't do the job well enough, when in reality the VHL playoffs are a fickle beast.

With that said, I feel as confident as I usually am taking over this team. My GM record speaks for itself, as in 12 combined seasons as GM I have 4 Cup wins, 7 finals appearances, with 10 seasons of my team making the playoffs. Me deciding to help out and take over Toronto was about more than just giving Dollar the well deserved break he's been asking for, for seasons now. It's also about me returning to GM form for what could end up being my last final run at the title. It's about me building a GM player right, a goalie, and sticking it out the 8 seasons with that player. And hopefully, it'll be about returning the Legion to a glory the franchise hasn't seen in some time. This is the first and only ever threepeat team we are talking about.

I look forward to the challenge that getting back in the GM saddle brings and to see if my skills can translate in this new VHL. I also want to say to Dollar, you did a good job sir, don't let the lack of results push you from the reality that you had some quality top tier players come through the organization in your tenure. With that, here we go.

Was it you or STZ who said they usually take on teams that are already established though? If you, that's somewhat why the record speaks for itself somewhat. Either way, good hiring and good luck @Devise

I don't take over teams that are already established. Cologne had early 1sts when I took them over but we didn't win the lottery till after, where we got O'Malley. I took over NY with the intention to rebuild and sold players in S30, but when I couldn't move Glover or Reik for the price I wanted we competed again in 31, lost in the finals, and then I made huge trades in 32 to push us over the edge and win.

When I took over for NY my last GM tenure I took over for @Tagger and the team wasn't built. He just sold off all his assets, but I ended up trading (shocker) for Maxwell and Ravenwing and built a core out of that. We then got Phil on his last decent player in the draft and won back to back.

I'm not going to say I'm some guru, I think Higgins and Chris are better GM's than I ever was. But no I don't take over teams that already have these cores in place to win and then win. I generally trade, a lot, as the joke always goes "there goes all the draft picks", however in the past that has worked for me. We'll see what I do here, with where Toronto is at.

Thanks for the kind words. I hope you do well with the team, and I think you are set up to select some great players in this upcoming draft to build the team how you want in your eyes. There's also some leftover assets that may be able to be traded like Ironside, Carison, and McKnight.

Was STZ then. My bad, man.
