Bio

Growing up in New Orleans, Louisiana, Kyle never had much of a chance to play hockey. He spent most of his childhood playing football and lacrosse. He dreamed of getting to play in the EFL or NLL. However, when he was 14 everything changed. His family moved to Minnesota, and he was introduced to the game of hockey.  He immediately fell in love with the game. Any thoughts of glory in the EFL were gone and his only goal in life was to make it to the VHL. Now, just five years latter, he has his chance.

Playstyle

Sabertooth is a large two way forward who uses his size and strength to his advantage. He is sound defensively, a side effect from his time as a midfielder in lacrosse. He is gritty and not afraid to get his hands dirty, fighting for the puck along the boards and battling for position in front of the net.

Strengths

Strength: Sabertooth is an incredibly strong man, spending almost all of his free time in the gym. In fact, his bench press rivals that of an EFL linebacker. On the ice he use his strength to his advantage. From ripping shots to beating down opponents, he is a terror on the ice. His checks are hard enough to leave his opponents unconscious. If he continues to work at it, he could become the next Scott Stevens.

Scoring: Sabertooth’s shot strikes fear into his opponents. He has a slap shot that rivals that of Shea Weber’s, although he is nowhere near as accurate. In fact, he has ripped a few nets in his career. His wrist shot is just as deadly. He once gave a goalie a concussion by hitting him in the head with a shot. However with all the power behind his shot, he needs to work on his control and accuracy. He appears to have  no control over where the shot is going. Although he is improving, and in a couple of seasons he should be much more accurate.

Defense: Sabertooth has always emphasized the defensive side of his game. His skills are incredible, as is his awareness. If there is any flaw to his game, it is that he is too aggressive. He chases the play too often, but other than that he is sound.

Weaknesses

Skating: A huge problem for Sabertooth is his skating. He is one of the worst skaters in the entire league. Given the fact that he has only skated for 4 years, even this is impressive. He is very sluggish, and his turns are incredibly wide. As he continues to develop, his skating will eventually become about average, but that is the best he will ever get

.

Passing: On the ice, Sabertooth is a very selfish player. He will chose to shot first, if he can’t then he will try to run threw the defender. Only if neither of those options are viable, will he pass. When he does decide to pass, he is very inaccurate. He struggles even to consistently hit players 15 yards away. This is something he must fix if he ever hopes to make it in VHL.

Leadership: Kyle is a rather quiet, abrasive person. Teammates often have little respect for him until they see how hard he works each and every day. His selfish play on the ice often causes conflict with his teammates. However, as his closest friends will attest, he is incredibly loyal to those who are his friends and teammates. He will defend them on and off the ice. However these are the only things that gain him respect. He will not stand up and take over a chaotic locker room. He will just stand to the side and mind his own business. This results in his play staying stable but the rest of his team will falter. He must learn how to take control, or else he may not get far in his career.

Conclusion

Sabertooth is an incredibly talented player. However he must learn the finer aspects of the game, and to stop relying on just his physical strength. He also must learn how to be a leader. Overall, I think that he will eventually become a cornerstone of a VHL team. In a few years, I would compare him to Gordi

Review: Nice Rookie profile, it's a good start to your career! Hopefully Sabertooth can improve his skating so he can turn into a nasty two-way forward.

"He is gritty and not afraid to get his hands dirty" - I think I am really going to like you :Gritty:

Review: Nice profile, looks like a great foot to get started on and I like the non-hockey background in your younger years. You seem to have all the pro's my player lacks. Someday if we find ourselves wearing the same uni I think we could really compliment each other on the ice...that is if our lack of leadership and communication skills don't get in the way.

I wanted to review a few rookie profiles of people that joined around the same time as me so I can see how I am stacking up against my fellow rookie classmates. Hope to get to know you more during S65!
