Name: Vaydar Odinsson

Height: 6' 3”

Weight: 202

Age: 25

From: Hammerfest, Norway

Position: Right Wing

Current Team: New York Americans :nya:

After spending Season 62 with the Ottawa Ice Dogs in the VHLM, and having a mediocre season by player agency standards(19G/17A/99H), Odinsson went into Season 63 VHL draft with tempered expectations. The BOOM™ Player Agency used to be renowned for producing elite talent that was virtually guaranteed success at the VHL level, however that waned over the last couple of players and it's believed that Vaydar Odinsson will be the final attempt to recoup some of the reputation that was amassed over a productive agency period, going back to Season 25.

When the Helsinki Titans spent a second round selection on Odinsson, many hoped that it mark the start of a promising career for the young Norwegian. Indeed, it did start well, with Odinsson running second to fellow Titan, Julian Borwinn for the ROTY award with a somewhat productive season(39G/43A/101H/109SB) and the promise of more to follow when the winger entered his sophomore season in 64.

One look at the stat sheet shows that was an unmitigated disaster for Odinsson, as the influx of experienced veterans that were added as the Titans made a playoff run, saw him shuffled further down the lines, stifling his offensive output(15G/25A) and resulting in some locker room hostility that often boiled over into actions that required front office intervention. Ultimately, it was the combination of broken relationships and a desire to find "greener pastures" that saw Odinsson approach the front office of the Titans and request he be placed on the trade block, if a suitable offer was found that could satisfy both parties.

And so, that is how we reach the point here in Season 65 where Odinsson finds himself in New York, primed and ready to contribute to the Americans as they seek to return to former glory. For the price of Roctrion King and two draft selections, the Americans acquired Odinsson and now hope that he can start to live up to his potential...and the legacy of his HOF family that graced the arenas of the Victory Hockey League.

POSITIVE

Vaydar is now becoming a more aggressive player as he prepares to become a checking force for the Americans, as it was something that he lacked during his time with the Titans. This will be an asset as he looks to become a leader for New York.Vaydar has a terrific work ethic and his developing strength will prove an asset as he develops his other skills throughout his career. He has always had a powerful shot and along with an ability to skate through and past defenders, he will surely start accumulating offensive statistics once again. However, the force that is now driving him to live up to the reputation label that has been attached by his association with quality players such as Odin Tordahl and Bismarck Koenig, may be his greatest strength. A determination to not disappoint again will see him work as hard as he can to add another name to the BOOM™ wall of honor.

NEGATIVE

While he has performed adequately, Vaydar has not been able to find the offensive spark that many believe is lurking inside of him. Highly capable of excellent pass selection, he has somehow looked a little shaky attempting to set up his fellow teammates in the offensive zone. Defensively he could be better, which should come with continued work on positioning and decision making. As he has tried to develop a checking game, his penalty rate has increased, leaving his teammates to pick up the slack while he sits in the box. The one weakness that may need to be addressed as a priority however, is his mental strength and attitude towards his statistic production. If he considers himself to not be producing as he expects, his head can drop and his attitude becomes a little melancholy. That can effect team morale, as seen with the incidents in Helsinki.

OUTLOOK

The future still remains bright for Vaydar as he continues his VHL journey with the New York Americans and with continued hard work and persistence, he could still become an upper level talent here in the VHL. If, and it's a big if, he can maintain the desire to improve himself as both a member and player, Vaydar Odinsson could prove to be a bargain acquisition by @Spade18 as the Americans strive to become a force once again, here in the Victory Hockey League.

Review:

First off, good formatting and readability. I might want to break down the strengths and weaknesses sections to be a bit more categorical, but that's nitpicking.

Aside - does anyone else thinkg young Zetterberg kind of looked like McDavid?

Nice, we don't see much focus on the negatives, but they're important to overcome to give your character an arc and compelling story. This is one of those limited ones that doesn't get too goofy with it, well done.

The grammar could use a little work, but it's readable.

I love it when people reference in-league characters, it builds out the world really wel. Keep doing this.

Great read. Keep working on the writing and grammar, give things a read aloud when your'e done writing a paragraph to make sure it flows, but this is a more than decent start!
