VHL.com, Ottawa - The Ottawa Lynx franchise of the VHLM have taken up a new initiative just today. Under the hashtag #OttawaGivesBack the Lynx organization have decided to donate money to a player chosen charity every year, based on team stats. This year the Ottawa Lynx drew names from a hat, and newcomer Alexsander Rodriguez @Jtv123 name was pulled. Rodriguez chose the Mira Foundation, a charity that helps adults and children with special needs, like the blind or autistic by supplying them with guide or service dogs. Service dogs can help kids with ASD come out of their shells and support them. Funds to this charity go to training dogs, and research in developmental disorders.

We asked Assistant General Manager Nyko Nax on why he decided to start the program/

"I think this is a great cause that we can all get behind. Bringing sim leagues into the real world with a cause like this is amazing. I decided to start the program after a friend of mine - @TacticalHammer who is an Atheltic Director for the Texas Longhorns told me about it. They run the same program in Texas and its amazing. Everyone contributes and it gives a goal for people."

Under this program, the Ottawa Lynx will be donating 3 cents for every goal scored, and 5 cents for every win to the Mira Foundation at the end of the season.

The Organization encourages anyone else to donate, or to match the donation to this good cause, but it isn't necessary to do so.
