.sniffuM 1,741
The New York Americans have floundered to a 5-9-4 start and recently ended a 10 game losing streak. The team wasn't expected to be a playoff team this season, but they were still figured to be better than the second worst team in the league this year. To be fair, they haven't played any games yet against Davos yet. Nor have they played Prague, who is only in their second season in the league. The concessions end there, though, as the Americans took a loss in their only game against the DC Dragons, the other most recent expansion team, and has lost four straight against a team many figured to be on the outside looking in this season in Calgary. The biggest issue for New York has been converting their shots. They rank fourth in the VHL with 689 shots taken but their abysmal 6.11% goal-scoring rate is worst in the league and nearly 2% worse than the next worst team, Malmo at 7.84%. This suggests New York is either in line for an historically bad season, or more likely, they've gotten unlucky and things will straighten out. Fire Tortorella 2,653
I know this is only about this season, but both New York and Davos got the short end of the stick the most with multiple expansions the past couple of seasons. Agreed, but NY's S68 draft was basically Seattle's S67 draft but we're not seeing anything like the same results. Except against Moscow. NY has no issues playing against Moscow. eaglesfan036 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/73100-the-new-york-americans-the-bad-the-bad-and-the-unlucky/#findComment-690046 Share on other sites

If anything what has prevented New York from taking that next step right now is that the team needs to consolidate assets imo and the market for that seems soft. ThePerfectNut 563
Dalton Wilcox is still getting those goals The rookies are getting points compared to the other players and it's great that Elmebeck is now leading the team defensively. I am happy that Owen Nolan is stepping up this year since he had an amazing end of the season last year. Thorvald still somehow getting those Ws Go NY Go .sniffuM and Elmebeck 2 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/73100-the-new-york-americans-the-bad-the-bad-and-the-unlucky/#findComment-690058 Share on other sites
