Theme Week, Prague's best chances at the hall

Prague's best chances at the hall

First off i'd like to give props to whoever came up with this season's theme as it's a excellent choice for a theme. Now, I don't really pay much attention to other VHL teams else than my own so I decided to limit my choices to members of the Prague Phantoms. Now that's a tough one considering the team doesn't have much when it comes to star power. I've decided to focus on the top 3 guys on our roster that I feel gives our team the best chance of producing a future hall of famer.

1 - Cinnamon Block

@omgitshim

The youngster just keeps on impressing many VHL scouts and various sports analysts. Block made her rookie debut last year as a 2nd pairing defenseman and was the runner up for the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy and was amongst the rookie leaders all season long. She ended her rookie season with 39 points which was 2nd in rookie scoring behind New York's Soren Jensen. This year Block has put away the thoughts of her possibly hitting a sophomore slump. After leading the Phantom's first pairing alongside a mix of Jacob Perry and Edward Vigneault Block hit career highs in goals (11), points (46), plus/minus (+6) and she once again threw over 200+ hits. Really if you look at the roster, Block offers Prague their best chance at producing a future hall of famer and offers the team the closest thing it's got to star power. Her mix of offensive tools and hard nosed style of play  brings me memories of Chris Pronger and I feel like she will one day be able to win the cup during her career as she for sure has the mind of a true winner.

2 - Wolf Stansson Jr.

@Cornholio

WSJ has proven to be a solid leader in this team's locker room over the last 3 seasons. WSJ has been mainly used as a top pairing defender until the team acquired tons of depth after season 69 and he got relegated to the 2nd pairing in season 70. He's been the team's main powerplay quaterback during his 3 seasons and with reason as he's had some consistency offensively there as he's managed to average 50 points a season since he's broken into the league.  He's currently the franchise leader in points with 153 career points with the team, 14 points ahead of forward Alex Pearson. He's been the most consistent player on the team and had he not started his career with a expansion team he probably could've been a hall of famer. WSJ helped bring the Phantoms to relevancy during their first few years and now he is going to help them in their first ever playoff round against Moscow. WSJ recently signed with the Phantoms with a new 5 year lifetime deal to help them hopefully win their first championship. He may not have hall of fame potential but I do see the Phantoms retiring his jersey if the continues playing the way he is.

3 - Brick Wahl

@BladeMaiden

Wahl has definitely put up strong numbers throughout her career and I consider her part of the league's elite goaltenders. Wahl has over 400 games played in the big leagues and has a career save percentage of ,919 and 27 shutouts over a spand of 7 seasons, 6 with the Wranglers and 1 with the Phantoms. Wahl is best known for backstopping the mostly mediocre Wranglers where she lead her team to 2 conference final appearences. Wahl was added to the Phantoms roster through a blockbuster deal with the Wranglers last offseason and she has quickly started to turn the franchise around and has emerged as a leader in the team's locker room. Her veteran presence has calmed the team and she's a big reason why the Phantoms have their first ever playoff berth. While age has started to show on the goaltender she still put up a solid save percentage of .917 on yet another mediocre team. While Wahl has always put up strong numbers I feel like her lack of any vhl awards or championships will hold her back from reaching the hall of fame. But, I feel she still has the chance to make to the hall if she somehow manages to bring the Phantoms to the finals and hopefully bring them their first ever cup.

There is still however lots of time for things to change and the Phantoms are a young team still and there's always time for a new star to emerge. It'll be interesting to see what will happen with this team over the next year with Wahl on a path towards eventual retirement. Will the Phantoms continue on being a playoff team or will they regress? Only time will tell.
