Currently as it stands, it’s the top four from each conference that get in. 1v4, 2v3. Very simple. Makes sense. Except for one glaring issue! The potential for a team in one conference to outperform teams in the other, and still miss! Let me break it down, if that doesn’t make sense. My NYA currently sit in 8th place. Not amazing by any stretch of the word, but having a decent season. Eight teams make the playoffs. You might think that 8th place would put you in or right on the door step of a playoff spot. HOW WRONG YOU’D BE! In our current playoff situation, there is a very good chance that we could end up as the FIFTH best team in the league and still miss out! DC (currently the fifth placed team in the league, they hold that final spot) are just one point behind Prague for fourth. There’s a dimension somewhere (mind you there could be infinite amounts) and in that one, we end up passing Moscow, Riga and Prague and STILL miss out! this is how it should be, especially because we have more teams. Top THREE from each division get in. Seeds 4 and 5 play each other in a best of three or five series. The winner of that series then becomes the fourth and final team and the seeding is 1v4 and 2v3. May seem minor but adding the extra chance for a team to make the playoffs would keep people on bubble teams more interested and give them a shot at being the underdogs!
