• Helsinki:

  • The Americans and the Legion aren’t great, but scoring 11 goals in one sim? Wowza.

  • They also pick up some much-needed wins in the European Conference playoff race, jumping ahead of Prague and Davos.

 

Loser:

• Davos:

  • In a heated playoff race, the Dynamo only got one game today. Hopefully that means three tomorrow, because they could use every point they can get. They are currently outside the playoff picture based on tie-breakers with Prague.

 

Winner:

• The forums:

  • See how easy it is to pump out a few thoughts and a few hundred words? It literally took me minutes.

 

Loser:

• Anyone interested in detailed analysis:

  • Yeah, I only looked at the scores and the standings. I bet some players had some really spicy games that are worth praising. Maybe another day.

 

Winner:

• Goaltenders:

  • The tendies of the league put up a collective 5 shutouts out of 16. That’s almost 33% - better than some PowerPlays in the league!

  • Granted, no goalie or team did it twice… but still!

 

Loser: 

• Goaltenders:

  • Anecdotally, I’ve heard teams saying that scoring is way up this year, and this sim doesn’t do much to disprove that. Half of the games had a team that scored four or more goals, including a handful of 5s and a big ol’ 8 ender. I wouldn’t want to be a puck stopper in this high-flying era, but I would also want to see some data to back this up.
