VHLM Expansion or Juniors thoughts and ideas

Ok hopefully by now most people have heard of the new junior league that’s been announced or even at least talked about. This article is just my opinion and what I see different and maybe new ways to look at it and potentially change it.

 

so before I get started this is just all my own opinion please don’t take this as a announcement as I do not work for the VHL or any kind of job here in the community as im just a minor league player in his second season and for those who don’t know my player is Cowboy Prout - Defencemen for SDM and a prospect for the New York Americans. That’s all I am nothing more.

 

 

 

now that’s all out of the way and I’ve covered my ass abit. Here’s what I personally think. The junior idea as of now I don’t see working UNLESS this program and idea gets some feedback to either make it work. See how it goes or scrap in general. So the junior idea to my knowledge is for to see if people stay (which is great) however the league cannot keep that many players active. And why do you ask? We seen this past seasons recruitment drive which definitely was a success and has paid off but how many went IA? Here’s how we can do the juniors. 

 

First gens only? 

Either a bigger recruitment drive or more marketing and advertising by different podcasts/ YouTube/ Facebook twitter intasgram reddit etc maybe even had a person or two in the recruiting team. New ideas.

 

 

reason I say that is what if the junior program was under like 75 tpe? And then those players HAVE to go to the M and then drafts the following season to both VHLM AND VHL. That would be my best bet. That way the M has more active players. More competitive and keeps things interesting and will help GMS in the M and VHL see who will be active and get more of a understanding of a players activity and goals for short term and long term. 

 

 

Now people will think this is stupid but I’d like this kind of concept and keeping just a small almost tournament style for juniors that’ll get players into forums/ discord and if there interested and keep earning then they’ll make a hop once they are showing they’ll stay and that way the m will have more active rosters. More competitive like I’ve said and I’ll be interesting to see since it can fill teams we have. No expansion will be needed but the juniors can get some people as gms or something to get experience and knowledge to “graduate” to the M and the M guys to the VHL. 

 

 

Its a weird way to look at it but if you think of what we’ve seen with how IA players can effect the M I think a system like this could really change the way how IA players won’t effect VHL or the M and quite honestly will just be more fun and less stress. It’ll show If numbers improve that maybe expanding will be a thing to consider if this proves it can get better results for keeping activity up and more players to engage then maybe before.

 

 

i would like something of like 4 teams for the juniors to start so it’s not to big and still can produce full rosters and so on. I really want others opinions on something like this as I thought hard about how you can really make it all work as one and a better effect system all around. I know we have a great team here and they do work hard on projects like this but I feel community feedback will always be something they want to hear and see what other ideas there could be. Please feel free to comment or let me know your thoughts on what’s been done or about this article and if you like this more for a concept. I’m always trying to think of ways to improve stuff and I like feedback. Thank you for reading this as I probably have a dumb idea but it could be something to consider or build off of very least.

I do like the ideas given, but the Juniors is a way for teams to actually have room to sign new players rather than not having any. It's a sorta failsafe incase teams do fill up again.

 

The reason as to why I do like the juniors a lot is that not only does it fill the needs of having enough space for new players, but it also uses a system already built into the sim engine. Now I'm not sure how much more work it gives to the simmers but I assume that it's going to be less than actually holding a tournament.

 

I do think that being sent to a junior team is a bit off-putting for new players, but it also gives an opportunity for them to slowly learn the process more easily since they are part of a junior team. It is the first season that this is being implemented afterall, and we'll all get a better understanding of how things go hopefully by the trade deadline or the end of the season. I think the main point of juniors is giving teams space so that they can keep signing new players if need be.

It’s gonna be a bit extra for me at first to get enough bots onto the teams and such but once that’s done it’s nothing extra. The farm sim runs alongside the main sim (it’s how we used to sim the VHLM actually) so no extra effort is needed at all for the simmers. This is a major benefit over things like tournaments that always get suggested because it doesn’t mean we need to increase the workload or hire even more simmers, it can all be easily accomplished with what we have.

Precisely. It’s best to think of it as roster overflow instead of an actual extra league. So if the teams need it, it’s there for them. However if they don’t it hasn’t added any extra work really to maintain.
