A budding rose has emerged in the VHLM, ready to take the league by storm. Although this is the beginning of his VHLM career, this certainly isn't the beginning of his story.

Rose was born in Peoria, IL and was an only child. His parents never had much money, but just enough for Rose to play youth hockey beginning at 4 years old. Life was never the kindest to Hex, he grew up with severe depression and was later diagnosed with Asperger's (or Autism Spectrum Disorder). Despite the mental blocks, he would train and play throughout elementary and middle school, advancing his skills on the ice to the watchful eyes of everyone who got to see him.

Once Rose had reached high school, he was able to join the local junior team, the Peoria Mustangs. He quickly became not only a star on the team, but a massive standout in the league, posting 47 goals and 58 assists in his first season. Although Rose had begun to bloom into the biggest player the league had ever seen, his own demons were starting to take a massive toll on him. Many nights, even after having massively successful games, he would hardly sleep and horrid thoughts constantly ran through his mind. At the advice of his doctors, he decided to take a break from hockey to face his depression head on. The process took 2 years, ultimately taking much of his junior hockey career away. The results, however, were far worth the costs. Now Hex began being able to perform and train at an even higher level than ever before. He returned for one final season for the Mustangs during his senior year of high school and recorded 64 goals and 88 assists, not only smashing league records but also helping the Mustangs to win the league Championship and being awarded playoff MVP.

After high school, Hex Rose became a Top 6 Center for the Michigan Wolverines, helping the team to two conference titles and a trip to the Frozen Four, with his stats averaging 36 goals and 52 assists each season. On another note, after having success over his own demons, he made sure to always help his teammates out with whatever he can, leading him to be named Captain for the Wolverines during his last two seasons.

Here we are in the present day, where after finishing his college career and earning a Master's degree in Sports Management, Hex Rose is ready for whatever the VHL and life itself throws at him, for he will flourish through it all.

Thanks to @gorlab for the sig!

I'm glad to see Rose overcame his demons! Mental health is such an important aspect in the hockey world and it's a need that requires appropriate attention. I am excited to see the VHL taking on such a younger player that has been diagnosed with depression and Asperger's. This shows that the VHL continues to be a community that embraces people from all walks of life, who have all sorts of struggles, and allows them to play the game they love. I, Thadius Sales, previously known as Prison Mike, know what it's like to feel accepted into the league even with a rough past. Welcome to the league!
