Cowboy Prout- build thoughts/ Questions and just frustration

Recommended Posts

Does your first player always suck for first gens compared to ones after? I’m starting to question myself and my build.

This is going to be I guess my little rant on how I’ve been frustrated and just generally what I’ve thought and seen so far in sims and with my current player. (To anyone that actually reads this and wants to know who my player is it’s Cowboy Prout defencemen on NYA) but here’s some just thoughts and my questions on it currently as I’ve seemed to just not been able to get better recently.

So I’ve managed to actually get myself in top five SB’s for most of the season and I honestly question if this is because of what team I’m on and how we’re struggling versus if I actually was on a contending team. My point with that is we shoot the puck quite abit in New York but defensive side we do take a lot of shots and with myself on first pairing and not as high tpe versus others top lines that 600-1000’s worth it can probably mean just we’re simply outplayed as a team and the opponents are shooting the puck a lot and I happen to be on the ice for that which is leading to more SB’s. Lately I’ve gotten into watching my ST and CK stats as I’ve been hitting more and it’s gotten up there compared to the start of season. But I’m wondering if it’s cause I’m against top players of if I’m slow for speed? It’s gotten my questions up with how the sim plays a factor with all those things.

Offensively I feel I’ve actually disappointed myself and the team. I think this season I really won’t show much in this category but seasons after will increase I feel significantly throughout Cowboy Prouts career. I think he’s going to be a solid defender regardless it’s I’m trying to figure out what works and the sim as it’s just overall been inconsistent for my player and this could have different factory’s that vary into this and I could be overthinking this at this point but still yet I’d like a little more offensive production from my player or at least more consistent here in his game. I’m actually wondering if PH and SC have to be more even for that to show and from what I’ve seen having low PH could actually been why with my low ST but again it’s something that’ll eventually get better as time goes on. I’m only looking to get better and it’s my first season in the VHL so I already knew I wouldn’t be a top defender right away but I’d like to become one and have my build pay off soon enough.

My season hopefully will get better soon. Safe to say playoffs are not going to happen with this team unfortunately but maybe next. We’ll just keep developing and growing with a hopefully good draft to add some players to this roster next season we should be in good shape.

lol you're always over critical of your player.  Gotta learn how to find positives and be happy with them

22 points in 29 games isn't bad for a rookie. Heck it's pretty good actually. For reference I only had 35 points in 72 games as a rookie on a far worse team that NY now.

It’s more having high hopes for myself and it’s been a reality check in the VHL

Spoiler

I understand the frustration but as others have stated that is part of being a rookie and 22pts in 30 games is nothing to sneeze at but is still a hard pill to swallow when last season most of us put up 100+ points in the VHL. Try to remember that we were all capped at 250, while the VHL top players are 600+ meaning we are chasing for at least the first season or two.

More blah blah blah........

Spoiler

I have also noticed that yes, certain stats do matter but I haven't figure out completely why yet? I am think it has to do with your players overall ranking that you can see in discord when you type in your .player. and there seems to be five key stats around builds with DF, SC, PH, PA & SK but I also think how much and where to place TPE is all dependent on the type of player that you want to build; it just means you sim different compared to other builds.

Just read this part and save yourself time:

In the end what I am trying to say; Trust yourself and the process. You are a good player and just need time to develop more in the VHL.
