Toronto Makes Big Splash Early In Off-Season
Victor replied to Devise's topic in Archived Media Spots
Not gonna lie, I think Helsinki played both you and Boychuk last off-season with the draft pick swaps and is gonna be a real force very soon. Then the Davos trade... I mean you were dealt a tough hand but not sure that was the right response to that hand especially given what you have left just a season later. Anyway, long story short Toronto currently has the longest cup and finals drought in the league and it's creeping up the all time list - not sure that'll change because basically you've got one season to change it? Far be it from me to doubt your GMing but this doesn't seem to be vintage Devise to me. -

This is this season's voting for the most outstanding player in the VHL - not to be confused with the most valuable player which is the Scotty Campbell Trophy and voted on by the awards committee. The lines can be blurred between the two tbh. Anyway, vote! @Members

Tbf I was waiting for someone to tell me so maybe he should bear the brunt of this. I feel like there's actually little incentive to be awards committee head. I'm doing it cuz I like it and I do behind the scenes stuff anyway but it's just free labour lol. Anyway that's a whole separate argument.
-
I was thinking about it this morning. I don't get paid enough for this. One Slobo voting coming right up.
-
Well he can't be worse than the original.
-
Not Riga GM but still screwing over Seattle
-
Well it's not the brand new GM that made the mistake here.
-
It's not actually a horrific overpayment anyway - the Charm is probably worth a late first even for a season.
-
Although I reckon you'll be allowed to void it because of the Riga Ironside situation last season and #LeaguesGoneSoft but the rule was announced, pretty easy to interpret and you were in the BOG when it was discussed and designed.

Davis just consistently fleecing Seattle whether they're buying or selling.

Making the Case for a Philadelphia Expansion Team [1/2]
Victor replied to eaglesfan036's topic in Archived Media Spots
Tribalism is actually just another reason to not expand into North America. -
How many goalies do you want Devise.
-
Helsinki going for it already??
-
I should say worst luck with these types of things.
-
I have the worst luck so 3, everyone else should avoid this number now.

Ryuuuuuuuuuuuu! Great team, pleasure to win a championship with all of you. Now we go again! Well played Calgary, you've been the team to beat these past three seasons. If it's over for you now, you've had a good run.
-
Were there points made the other way or was it just blackmail from Bush and Beaviss?
-
Being an AGM is just extra muddying of the waters for why.
-
fucking millenials
-
well there ya go, league's gone soft
-
BladeMaiden's credentials are irrlevant in my eyes here. How can someone who will likely end up on a rival team be your assistant GM? You've got a contending team with active members, no one could step up to help you out from within?
-
Just realised this series ended the longest wait between two teams meeting in the playoffs..... since Season 8! https://vhlforum.com/topic/52282-an-all-encompassing-playoff-spreadsheet/

Sorry what. League's gone soft.

This season we have corrected a major fuck-up, restoring the Labatte to its previous glory after a 4-season absence and introducing the Valiq. However, given the Labatte for 4 seasons was effectively the Valiq, the winners of 1 award were moved to another and its place?... Nothing. A void in the history books. The idea of going back and deciding on the 4 missing Labatte winners surfaced in the BOG discussions, but was shut down for some reason I can't remember and was not particularly bothered to argue. However, looking at the league's best defencemen over VHL's history recently while I'm putting together my all-time top 10 lists has made me realise two things: 1. It's a very easy task to do. Firstly, the most recent winner, in S62, would be very straightforward given I know for a fact that everyone in the award committee agreed that Johnsson was the best dman in the league but had to take just the Wylde because Kovalchuk had too many points. Secondly, the other 3 winners are Ay Ay Ron. On the basis that the Labatte is effectively a direct battle between the Valiq and Wylde winners (this won't always be the case but definitely would have been in S59 to S61), Ron - who won 2 Valiqs and a Wylde in those three seasons - was definitely the outstanding candidate. He was more well-rounded in the respective seasons than all of Jokinen, Johnsson, and especially Dexter Lane. 2. For Ay Ay Ron, 3 Labattes would give him a much more legitimate shot at the HOF (which I think is a lock anyway regardless of the last two seasons). Very few defencemen won 3 Labattes and it would better reward his legacy in context. Anyway, I don't see the harm. Thoughts?
