  3. Matsikas Reflects & Responds In Matsikas first season in the VHL he had a very strong season, playing on a very strong team. His team at the time was the Oslo Storm, who finished first in their conference. Matsikas had a great individual season as well, putting up 26 goals, and 90 assists for a total of 116 points. Oslo then went to make it to the finals in the playoff, but ultimately lost to Brampton. Once again, during the playoffs Matsikas had a great showing with 16 points in 10 games. Heading into the offseason Matsikas was dealt to the Ottawa Lynx. At first Matsikas was learly of the trade cause he had built some great friendships in Oslo. Matsikas quickly realized this was for the good of his career as he was traded to a stronger team, who had a good chance at fighting for the cup again. However, Matsikas had a down season with Ottawa, only putting up 79 points, compared to 116 in his rookie season. Ottawa did not make it as far in the playoffs compared to Oslo, but Matsikas had another strong showing with 15 points in 10 games. Another offseason has come and gone and Matsikas is on the move again. He has just been traded to the Yukon Rush. A team that boast strong roster, specifically a strong D core. With the addition of Matsikas to the D core, I think it is safe to say the Rush have one of the strongest D cores in the league. Before the trade went down, Matsikas did play a couple of games this season for Ottawa. In the 6 games he played he put up 14 points, which is second in the league in scoring, only 1 behind the leader, which is also on the Yukon Rush. We were able to catch up with Matsikas as he was leaving the Ottawa locker room, this is what he had to say about the trade, and last season. "Well you know, I am not completely shocked that I was traded, I kind of saw it coming. A lot of other players on my team were either called up to the big leagues, or traded. So I saw that a rebuild was place for Ottawa, it was just a matter of time till I was moved. Going to Yukon will be a good thing for me. Im arguably going to the strongest team that I ever played on, and what is likely going to be my last season in junior I am really grateful for the opportunity to win a cup again! With that being said, I am extremely grateful for my time in Ottawa the team was very welcoming when I first got traded there, and the fans were awesome!" By the sounds of it Matsikas is excited for the new opportunity, and is ready to take a large role with his new team. 485 words
