  1. I love this idea being a prospect. We need our time too
  2. New rookie defensemen Archie Wagner has drawn a lot of buzz over the recent weeks. He is a former basketball turned hockey player, and has been pretty public on his transition from one game to the next. We sent a message out to Archie asking what his top 3 choices for the VHL would be. Archie sent back with this response, also adding that they are in no particular order. Helsinki Titans This is a choice that makes sense for two reasons. Those two reasons are because Archie loves to turn teams around, which he would have a chance to do with the Titans. They hold the 2nd to worst record in the VHL, so there is no question they are a dumpster fire right now. The 2nd reason is they need defensemen. They have one great defensemen in Don Draper, and a solid on in Penis Hudson, but after that it is a big question mark. We could see the Titans go defense early in the draft, but I would be surprised if they didn't take a forward with their first pick. Maybe Archie will end up falling to them. Riga Reign Riga is another team that doesn't have much depth at D. Nobody on the team has put more than 400 practice hours in, so they aren't very good at stopping the leagues high powered offenses. Archie Wagner would be a man that could change that however. He loves to work hard, so he would get over 400 practice hours in no time. He is also physical, which this team is lacking right now. Riga is having a surprisingly good season despite not having a great defense. Archie Wagner may be the guy that puts them over the hump. Calgary Wranglers The Calgary Wranglers are the last team on Archie's top 3 list. They are another team that is struggling this year. They also don't have anyone with 400 practice hours like Riga. Archie is again a guy that works hard so he would be there in no time. The Wranglers have went defense in the last few drafts though, so will they decide to take a risk and go there again in a league that is powered by offenses? Stay tuned and find out.

  6. Brandon Thompson - Hello AM 1300 listeners. Today we have a special guest for all of you hockey fans, and that guest is Archie Wagner. Wagner recently stated that he would stop playing basketball so he could pursue a career in hockey with the VHL. Archie Wagner - Hello AM 1300. It is a pleasure to be able to talk to y'all this mighty fine afternoon. Brandon Thompson - What made you change from basketball to hockey all of a sudden? Archie Wagner - Growing up near Minnesota people were always talking about hockey. I loved to play hockey as a kid, and I was pretty good at it. There was just one thing, and it was that I loved to play basketball even more than I loved to play hockey. That has changed now. I have started to play hockey with some of my friends, and I figured out that I love this game. Brandon Thompson - What do you think you bring to a team without having much experience at the college level? Archie Wagner - I bring a lot of things. I work my tail off, I am very physical and that is what you need for your defensemen, and I will stand up for my teammates. I just want to win at all cost, unlike some guys. I'll have the team focused at all times, no matter if it is practice or if it is in the middle of a game. Brandon Thompson - Where do you hope you get signed? Archie Wagner - It doesn't make a huge difference to me. I'll be going into the developmental league, so I just want to have shot to show I belong in the league and raise my draft stock. I want teams to notice me, and I hope it works. Brandon Thompson - Thanks for taking time out of your day. Best of luck in the VHL. Archie Wagner - Thanks Brandon.
  7. (Archie Wagner working out for a VHLM team) Skip Bayless - Welcome to ESPN First take. I'm your host Skip Bayless, he is Stephen A Smith, and I am the superior of the two. Stephen A Smith - (Laughs) Your pretty funny aren't you. Almost funnier than Archie Wagner thinking he has a future in the Victory Hockey League. This kid is going to be lucky if he even makes it to the minor league. He has no future, and should have stuck with basketball. Skip Bayless - I think your wrong on this one, Stephen. He has a future, and it's a helluva lot better than yours. I know he was a great basketball player for the Iowa Hawkeyes, even leading them to the Sweet 16 this year but he feels like he will succeed in hockey. Many were predicting him to go in the first round of the NBA switch. Do you feel like it was the right call to ditch the NBA? Stephen A Smith - What do you mean, do I think it's the right call? There is no thinking to it. No way in hell it was the right call. He had a guarantee of going in the first round, and he just ditches it. It's like dating a super model, but breaking up because she has a mole on her back. You don't do it. Basketball was his thing, I don't even know if this kid can skate. Skip Bayless- That is where your wrong Stephen. This kid can skate, and he is good at it. You have seen how physical he is out on the basketball court, imagine him being a VHL defensemen. He isn't going to let any of his teammates take a shot without the opponent taking a shot back. Stephen A Smith - What do you think this kid has to bring to a VHL team? Skip Bayless - This kid is physical, works hard, and won't get knocked down. He has his teammates backs at all time. He isn't going to get hit without hitting you back. He is going to protect his goalie, and his team. This is what team's are missing these days. He is going to win a few championships someday. Stephen A Smith - This kid isn't winning anything, because he isn't even going to make it to the league. He probably isn't getting drafted, so I have no idea what he was doing with this switch. I hope all works out for him though, because he gave up his life. Skip Bayless - I'm glad he gave up basketball. We all know he was going to the Clippers, I didn't want to hear from you after he dunked over your Kobe Bryant. Stephen A Smith - Yea right. Well I hope this kid knows what he is doing, because I am done supporting him. Skip Bayless - Well, Archie if your listening I hope you know I'll always support you. I hope you make it to the big leagues someday. Work hard buddy.
