One chapter inmy career closes, and another begins. Im sad to leave all my friends in Riga after only one season actually with the team, but i trust mike knew whats best for the team. Im happy to start my next chapter with frank in quebec.

Canesco had 33 saves on 39 shots faced (.846 sv %) which was pretty good considering the output of the team overall. Scoring 5 goals over the course of 13 minutes and 46 seconds, it became readily apparent that the Red Wolves did not really show up to play. Moscow gave up 2 power play goals and was outshot 27 shots to 39 shots. The final score of the game was 6-1 in Turku’s favor where Moscow’s goal was scored in the 2nd period, but fans were already leaving the stadium in the first period. This game demonstrated the end of possibly anything happening for GM Bruce Wayne’s future teams as the majority of his future assets were moved in-order to compile a stronger S38 roster. Many of Wayne’s strong players will be moving on to the VHL though Moscow owns their VHLM rights, so we will probably see Moscow return to their bottom feeder ways unless something miraculously happens that turns around Moscow’s fortunes. It is an unfortunate ending for such a great season by the former Vasteras franchise, but “tis the way of ice hockey.” Both GM Bruce Wayne and Head Coach Anton Kudryashov gave closing speeches to their team talking about their achievements during the season and how proud these powerful men were of their players and that they wished them well on their future careers. It should be interesting to see how some of these Moscow players like forward Jackson Miller who is touted as one of the top S39 VHL draftees, and Cologne draftee, forward Steve Tremblay end up in their careers. To end this playoff overview, I would like to share a quote with you that GM Bruce Wayne said to his players in the end of season team meeting that was taken from the famous British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. “Never was so much owed by so many to so few.” GM Bruce Wayne thanked the players for giving him and the Moscow community a wonderful season of VHLM ice hockey and making Moscow proud of their franchise. They did not reach the ultimate goal of the cup, but the success they had will still be cherished for seasons to come. Also since I, KJA and Wayne's agent, have been relatively MIA over the last couple of weeks, I wanted to explain why. I have had a hospital internship for the last 3 weeks that has taken up my time from 0645 to 1700. When I get home, I have to work on some summer things my school has assigned me. I also am running an EHM league and a clan so its been really tough for me to keep up with doing Media Spots. Both Bruce Wayne and KJA have been yelling at me for being an awful agent and reporter, so hopefully I can be more active. I would like to thank everyone for allowing me to be apart of this community and I hope that both KJA and Moscow will do very well in the future! Thanks!

Part II of the continuation of the Playoff Overview. Part I can be found here: http://www.vhlforum.com/index.php?/topic/9668-moscow-playoff-overview-part-i/ As of now, the series was 2-1 in Moscow’s favor, however this quickly changed in game 4. Turku evened the series with the 5-3 win over Moscow in game 4. The Red Wolves were outshot 25-32 and did not look good for basically the entire game save the first 7 minutes of the 3rd period and the last minute of the 3rd period. Canseco was not exactly amazing this game, 27 saves on 32 shots (.844 sv %), but everything cannot be blamed on the goalie. For the goalie to face the shot, means that the forwards and defense had to fail at preventing the puck from reaching the goalie. Overall, it was not a good performance for Moscow, though Leo Dalton of the Moscow Red Wolves was the game’s third star with 1g, 1a and a +2 in this game. This back and forth series continued as Moscow took the lead again in game 5, but this game was close to the game 2 that Turku won against Moscow. Moscow won game 5 by a score of 6-2, though they were outshot by Turku, 23-43. Moscow goalie, Jose Canesco had an amazing game, stopping 41 shots out of 43 shots (.953 sv %) and the team overall preformed very well. Steve Tremblay scored a hat trick and added on an assist in the game, which earned him first star honors. Jackson Miller also had a fantastic game scoring 2 goals and 2 assists, earning him second star honors. Roland Brice was the third star and he had 1 goal in the game. This performance displayed the potential that Moscow had in winning the series, and now Moscow was poised to win the series as they were leading the series 3-2 with a decisive game 6 up next. This decisive game 6 ended in the first period as Turku completely decimated the Red Wolves, and basically put an end to the hopes that Moscow had. This was the second game that Turku had completely destroyed the Red Wolves in the playoff series and were displaying that they were a stronger team. Turku evened up the series 3-3 with their 7-2 win in game 6. Moscow goalie, Jose Canesco was pulled this game 15 minutes and 29 seconds into the game having only stopped 10 shots on 16 shots faced. Alfie Forever went into the game, being featured for the second time in the playoffs and second time this series. Playing for 44 minutes and 31 seconds, Forever stopped 26 shots on 27 shots faced. There was not much else notable on the Moscow Red Wolves side, but one could see the hopelessness on the Moscow players’ faces. In the post game interviews, the players talked about how both Head Coach Kudryashov and GM Wayne gave a very inspiring speech in the locker room at the end of the game in hopes of boosting morale for game 7.

What can be said about Season 38 for the Moscow Red Wolves? Did they achieve their goal that the ambitious GM Bruce Wayne set for his team? Well it depends on what you consider their goal was and if it was actually achieved. Going into this season, Wayne said that Moscow would be a contender. Was this achieved? Hell yeah it was! Battling for first in their conference, Moscow was giving Turku a run for their money until the final few games. Then, Moscow fought their way through the playoffs to the conference finals. Here they faced the Turku Outlaws again who though had beaten Moscow during the regular season, may falter during the playoffs. In the first game of the series, Moscow had a decisive victory, 5-3, over Turku. The Red Wolves outshot the Outlaws 42 – 34. Moscow goalie Jose Canseco played brilliantly for the Red Wolves in this game saving 31 of 34 shots (.912 sv %) and adding another win to his playoff record (5-0-0). Though the 1st star went to Devin Sundberg of Turku (2g, 1a, -1), Dale Kent (1g, 0a, +1) and Roland Brice (1g, 1a, 0) of the Moscow Red Wolves took 2nd and 3rd star, respectively. It was a good showing for Moscow and was a good tempo setter for the rest of the series. Then the second game of the series took place, and everyone was absolutely shocked by the result. Fans of both teams were very disappointed in this game, though Turku fans were happy their team got the win, this was not a fun game to watch at all. Red Wolves: 3; Outlaws: 11. Canesco was pulled in the 2nd period after giving up 6 goals on 17 shots, and Alfie Forever was put in net. Forever did not do much better than Canesco in his playoff debut allowing 5 goals on 22 shots. After the game, GM Bruce Wayne was visibly shocked and only gave a few words to the press before asking to be excused. Their current coach, Anton Kudryashov, who has been relatively unheard from during the season, shared some sentiments with the press about how he and his players did not show up for the game that day and were looking to put this game past them and looking forward to game 3 to extract revenge on Turku for this embarrassment. Coach Kudryashov must have given his team one hell of a pre-game talk as his team came back in game 3 seeking revenge. The Moscow Red Wolves 7-5 won game 3, but Moscow was outshot badly (31 – 52) by Turku. Moscow swept the 3 stars with Steve Tremblay (2g, 2a, +1) taking first star, Moe Mills (1g, 1a, +1) taking second star, and Jackson Miller (0g, 4a, +1) taking third star. Moscow goalie, Jose Canseco, returned to form stopping 47 shots out of 52 shots (.904 sv %) giving him another win in his playoff campaign (6-1-0). Both Wayne and Kudryashov both looked better after the win in game 3 and were more cheerful in talks about the game and game 4.
