  1. Linholm on the Ice during Americans Training Camp Taken with the second overall pick in this past seasons draft, Linholm got to spend some time in the city that he will be playing his VHL hockey in. Linholm had gotten to spend a week or so in New York and was able to take in the many sights and sounds of the media capital of the world. It can be quite the experience for a young player, especially one from a different country. Linholm is going to have to get used to the birght lights if he hopes to succeed in a city like New York. "I enjoyed being able to enjoy the city. It is very large and has many thing to do in it. It kind of took me off guard with how much there was to do in the city. I can't wait to finally start playing hockey here. This is a city that requires players to succeed and anything less is not accepted here. I am looking forward to hopefully being able to live up to the lofty expectations here and giving this city something to get excited about." Linholm was able to get in some training camp practices with the Americans and was able to sign an entry level contract with the team. As expected, however, Linholm will not be on the main squad when the season kicks off. He has been re-assigned to the VHLM and will be spending the season with the Minot Gladiators. The Americans are hoping that another season in the VHLM will help Linholm gain more practice hours and allow him to find his game. They feel he could develop better if he is seen as an important player on a team rather than one who would struggle to find a place on their second line. "Of course I'm a little disappointed I wont be playing with the Americans this season but I expected to be back in the VHLM. I'm just focused on starting this season strong and getting better. I will be playing with the Americans next season and hopefully we can do something really special when the time comes. Until then I will be playing with the Gladiators and I'm excited to get the season started. It seems that we have a great group of guys there and I think we have a team that could be challenging for the founders cup this season. There isn't a team that is as stacked as the Watchmen were so I feel that it really gives us a chance at winning it all this year." The VHLM does figure to be much more competitive this year than last year and Linholm is hoping to take advantage of that and make a lot of noise in the league this year. After being a fixture on Berns third line last year, Linholm is expected to slot into the first line this year with the Gladiators. With the departure of Logan Laich to the VHL Linholm is seen as one of the top players playing in the VHLM this year and is expected to challenge for some of the awards this next season.
  2. I'm pretty sure I'm eligible since I am a first-gen +5 Defense +5 Checking
  3. Solid 6 point showing, can't complain. And about the fight, I'm a Swedish player. We don't fight well
  4. Of course I forget to pick up my suit from the dry cleaners on this day
  5. https://soundcloud.com/kapslapbootlegs/wake-all-the-timber-up Just some of his work, I'm finally home so I could actually post something.
  6. Thanks for welcoming me guys! Looking forward to tearing up the VHL with all of you once I make the jump. I'm just hoping I can live up to the lofty expectations of going 2nd overall

  8. Jakob Linholm was selected 2nd overall in the S37 VHL entry draft The wait is over for many of the top VHL prospects this season with the conclusion of the S37 VHL entry draft. The day was stressful for many of the prospects and many were left wondering how long they would have to wait before their name was called. For Linholm his wait was shorter than he thought it was going to be coming into the day. "Well I had thought that the first three picks in the draft were set in stone and that the real questions were going to be starting with that number four pick. I had prepared all day to be waiting past the top three and when my name was called at second overall I was definitely in shock. I had just got comfortable in my seat and was ready to wait a bit but next thing I knew I was walking up to accept my new jersey and shake hands with my new GM. It was definitely a surreal experience." Linholm wearing his new team colors and excited to start his VHL career Even though Linholm was taken at second, he was not the biggest pick taken by the New York Americans. Since the Americans held the second, third, and fourth pick in the draft this year, it can be seen as them having some sort of super pick. Linholm is not as polished as the other picks, Laich and Slaughter, and there is a very good chance that he find himself back in the VHLM this next season. Linholm doesn't seem to mind this tho. "I know that I could end up back in the VHLM this next season and I'm ok with that. I know that I need to have more time to develop my skills and the best place to do that is in the VHLM. I am aware that I am not as talented as Laich and Slaughter and that I, in reality, did not deserve to go second overall. I think it was a very classy gesture by the organization to take me that high and that it may cause even more first-gens to try and remain active because when you do, people do take notice. I am excited to start my career with this franchise and am just wanting to get back to playing hockey." Linholm, who had a very average season last year with the Bern Royals, is looking to really let his talent start to show. He will more than likely be back in the VHLM next season and will be looking to play first-line minutes with a team. Linholm will be looking to continue to mold his game and find out which role he can play to help out the team. One of his saving graces this past season was his work ethic and drive to get the most out of practice each and every week. With a bunch of veterans to look up to while being apart of the New York Americans organization Linholm seems to be in a position for him to succeed in this league. One day he may perform well enough to be deemed worthy of being the second overall pick from the S37 VHL entry draft but until then, the only person that could stand in the way of him succeeding seems to be himself. Linholm Mania is already taking over New York (Image disclaimer: It was a silverberg photo I found while searching for images and I laughed at it and it just fit in with the situation. I just found it funny.)
  9. Congrats to all the draftees! Can't wait to get our careers started and let's make this draft class one to remember!
  10. Thanks for New York for picking me 2nd overall, can't wait to help out the team. Good luck to the rest of the draftees
  11. We should've known jardy wasn't going to sim on a whiskey wednesday
  12. Oh I wasn't aware of this, first season here. I guess hope is not all lost that the game will get simmed eventually
  13. Let's all take a second and appreciate that this draft will take place without a top prospects game being played before. Whole new territory.
  14. So when does the draft party start. I was told there would be pizza
  15. Can't wait, nice to know which VHL team is going to TAKE A CHANCE ON ME *if you know the band, your awesome*
  16. Agreed, this is a tough time for a new member to join, and I think he is eager because he checks back every day. I managed to stay engaged because I joined at a time where things were happening to my player and I had stuff to go on because I was on a team. He could write a media spot about his player background, or even get started on a rookie profile or biography. Those things have more to do with just your player and their history other than what goes on in the league. I also see why he may have trouble finding stuff to write about. While people can write about going off and saving giraffes or taking their trousers off at the VHL HQ, I like to write realistic articles and that made it tough to do when my player wasn't scoring and was only getting 8 minutes a night on my VHLM team. It's just the way I'm wired i suppose. Also when dealing with recreates it can be tough to maintain motivation knowing that there is going to be people in my draft class, who I will forever be comnpared too, who have 200+ TPE than me. Maybe we could have something for first-gens like us to work towards (First-gen exclusive awards?). I managed to find motivation by wanting to simply become the best first-gen in my class because it will be tough to past the recreates. I do understand why they get that extra TPE, They have put their time in the league while I'm a noob. I sense his frustration but it was handled poorly. I do hope he stays around because he seems to be a sim league enthusiast and once he gets more comfortable here and gets used to the way it's run, may become a valuable member. That is all I suppose. Also good luck with your team in RL Coach.
  17. this is how I feel as a sens fan this year
  18. Getting excited for the draft tomorrow, should be a good draft and hopefully can be one of the better ones ever. Also excited for when the prospects all-star game gets simmed
  19. Good luck to everyone! Also I can't wait to see what I can do with some first line minutes.
  20. Thanks boom! And good luck to all the other draftees this year!
  21. Yeah I realized that it's tougher to schedule the draft because of scheduling issues. I'm in a group project for college and it's tough to just get 4 people together. I just get why there's frustration with not knowing when the draft is.
