New Questions for week of Jan 14-20.

Answer 3 Questions for 1 TPE or 6 Questions for 2 TPE. Enjoy!

    1. What are the main things that you would attribute the Halifax 21st's maintained success to thus far in S64?

    2. Coming in as a brand new GM this season, how do you think McWolf has handled his expectations and responsibilities?

    3. Which teammate do you feel you have had the best chemistry with so far?

    4. How do you feel you, as a player have performed this season? Did you expect more from yourself, maybe less, or are you playing exactly the way you knew you could?

    5. Has anyone on the team surprised you with their performance this season?

    6. Do you think you are going to spend another season in the VHLM or do you want to head straight to the VHL after S64?

    7. Who do you consider to be your biggest rival in the VHLM whether it be a teammate or an opponent and what sparked the rivalry between you?

    8. Do you think Halifax has what it takes to win the Founder's Cup where they are now or do they need to add more pieces and get better?

    9. Who do you think have been Halifax's best players this year and do you like to model your game after anyone in particular?

    10. How many points do you see yourself finishing the season with?

    1. Depth. Team is loaded and I'm here to get under the opponent's skin. It works well for us as a team. We've got that chemistry on lock.

    2. Wolfie is great. He's been a great manager, even in one of the most dismal cities. Hell, he could probably motivate a pile of dog crap. Great GM.

    4. I feel like I'm doing my job as intended. Last I checked I had 70+ PIMs and 50+ hits. I'm here to create scoring chances and it's clearly showing on my stat line. Just hope the scouts understand my style of play.

    6. I'll spend another season here...I think. I still have some developing to do and I'd like to become a dominant force in the VHLM before I'm drafted. Leave a legacy. Even if that means taking a guy's head off with my skate blade.

    7. Vegas Aces. Buncha' turds. I'm willing to bet if this team moved to Vegas and had the strip we'd be lighting the league up. Closest I've been to some tail is the dog rescue down the street. Gotta get the dubs for the ladies. Ladies love the dubs.

    10. 34 points and 234 PIMs.

    1. Why not Nash?

    2. Any preferable VHL destinations so far?

    3. How's Halifax LR?

    4. How's VHL discord? Is this active enough for you?

    5. Do you have any rivalry going on already?

    6. Wo do you think wins the Founder Cup (VHLM title)?

    7. What happens if I'm getting too close to you?

    8. Are wolves you fav animal?

    9. Do you hope you can make into the first round in next VHL draft?

    10. Not too much questions?

    1. Nash? That guy is a straight DUSTER. Sabres, just like the Buffalo Bills, are NY's teams. Any other teams, and players on those teams, that think they're part of NY can get lost. And Dick Nash just doesn't sound right.

    2. Preferable VHL destinations? Any team that's willing to pay a plug like me. Throw me a few bones and I'll be an enforcer and score a few goals. Sounds like a good contract, eh?

    3. Halifax is okay. Ain't too much going on out here in Nova Scotia and the puck bunnies dress in parkas. What's a guy like me to do? I'm getting paid.

    5. No rivalries to speak on but I would love to see a few bench brawls every now and then.

    6. Founder Cup is going to Halifax. I already have plans to drink 40s out of it and shoot some clay pigeons in my back yard.

    7. Get too close to me and I'll knock yer lights out, kid. That's why I am a Rash and not a Nash.

  3. Where are the rivalries at? Dick Rash is always down to throw the haymakers with a dancing partner. NHL is too soft these days. VHLM needs to take it back to the roots. I'm talking Broad Street Bullies, bench clearing brawls, running the goalie from the blueline type of league. Give the fans what they want. I'm sick of seeing Mr. Softee get a pass into the zone 1-on-2. D needs to step up and deliver the dynamite. We've set the tone in Halifax and I've got all your numbers...and your baby momma's numbers (don't worry, I ain't got time to be cuffed up).

Bring it on. I want to see some passion in the game. Forget Wednesday Night Rivalries on NBCSN. I want VHLM Daily Rivalry Night. Where are the rivalries at? If there are any, how did they begin? What teams? I'm always down for a tense rivalry.

    1. Is Dick a nickname for Richard? If so, why do you choose to use the nickname when your last name has such lewd connotation when paired with the nickname?

    2. Is there a medical condition I should be concerned about when asking you these questions?

    3. You had a two goal game the other night! How was that experience? How do you think that game went for you and your team?

    4. Do you feel good about how this season has started for your team? How far do you think your Halifax team can go this season?

    5. Who do you think can take home the Continental Cup this year? What's your outlook on how the VHL season is going so far?

    1. Ma never told me Dick is a nickname for Richard. Apparently my 'dad', who was a real Dick, left for a pack of cigarettes one day and never came back. I guess she named me Dick to spite my father. Ma wasn't always the brightest bulb in the pack. I guess she wasn't thinking when I popped out and she named me Dick.

    2. Medical condition? Of course. I'm an animal. Stay away, put me in a cage. I CAN'T BE CONTAINED!

    3. Two goal game, should've been three. Dad will never find his son if I never get out of the VHLM.

    4. I'm feeling great about how this season is going so far. I'm a great team and I couldn't be happier. Locker room is buzzing after every win and it feels like one big family. Atmosphere has definitely contributed to our team's early success. We're going to the cup and I'll be the first to drink a 40 out of it. Ice cold Colt-45.

    5. I hope Toronto takes it home and the city petitions to remove the Leafs and replace them with the VHL Toronto Legion. Would be a riot.

  5. 1. John, Halifax off to a strong start with a 5-2-1 record in the first 8 games. What has been the key to your team's early success?

    2. Split the home-and-home with Vegas, losing the home game and winning in Vegas. What was the overall feel of the team heading into Vegas after dropping that big home game?

    3. Halifax leads the league with a +7 scoring differential right now. Clearly the team is flourishing with new talent. How have the new guys contributed to this +7 number?

    4. Any of the new guys catching your eye other than Vanderhuge?

    5. Speaking of Vanderhuge, potential rookie of the year material?

  6. Although he has only played in 2 of Halifax’s last 6 games, Dick Rash is finding ways to show success early in his rookie campaign. In two games he has played in, Rash has assisted on two goals and maintained a +2 rating. When speaking to the media, Rash was most impressed with his +2 rating:

    Quote

‘Teams have been finding ways to exploit some holes in our defense. It was tough to find success when the other team’s offense is putting up a combined 7 goals in your first two games. Having  a +2 rating over those two games really speaks to my game and how I am trying to establish a physical presence on the ice every night. I want teams to know I’m out there. They should be scared of getting caught with their heads down. If it allows our team to get a few loose pucks here and there I’m all in on pushing a physical agenda’

In terms of establishing a physical presence, Rash found himself in the box twice in his two games for a total of 4 PIMs. The penalties? Cross-checking and roughing.

    Quote

‘I’m not here to give people passes in front of the net and on the forecheck. If they’re in my way I am going to let them know. I’ll do whatever it takes to get to the puck. If it takes a two hand to the back, I’ll do it. Refs can only catch so much and to be honest I get away with more than they call on me.’

Management has yet to comment on how they feel about their gritty rookie. Seeing penalties on the scoresheet for cross-checking and roughing can be tough for managers to swallow, especially for a rookie talent, but Rash has been producing. He even logged a total of 5:59 on the powerplay over his first two games on the ice.

    Quote

‘Getting some time on the PP was special. Not a role I played with the Benders but I went with it and continued to play my game. If I can win some battles on the boards and set up scoring opportunities I know I can be a sustainable contributor on the man advantage. Heck, if Vegas can put Baillie on their powerplay and expect success I guess every bender in the league has their chance to shine. Guy is a plug and I hope we go toe-to-toe one day.’

Looking forward, Nash just may get that opportunity. Halifax plays Vegas in a home-and-home series. Halifax getting the first home game and then traveling to Vegas. How is Rash feeling about it?

    Quote

‘I hope see those puck bunnies out in full support. If I’m going to drop the mitts I better have a biddy waiting for me in the penalty box. But seriously, we need all the home support we can get. It will be tough to go to Vegas and put up a W if we lose the first one at home. Make it a date, hire the neighbors kid to babysit, and get out there and support the 21st.’

Looks like Vegas may have a handful when they come to Halifax. Looking forward to it.

  7. Dick Rash

Image result for rick nash embarrassing picture

    Age: 26
    Place of Birth: Bender, Oklahoma

    Height: 6'2"

    Weight: 195

    Team: Halifax 21st

    Pos: Forward (RW)

The hype is contagious when it comes to one of the league's newest rookies, Dick Rash. Rash, despite his suggestive name, has a spread of talents and is strong on the puck. Defense beware. Skating skills, combined with strength, will have Rash positioned deep in the offensive zone as an itch that opposing teams just can't scratch.

    Strengths

Strength: Rash has been working on becoming a physical presence in the league. One of the hardest adjustments coming into the league as a rookie is having the physical strength to hold a position in front of the net and on the boards. Rash is a grinder and has spent hours in the gym to build his strength and match that of seasoned veterans. Hope it pays off.

Grit: This guy is in it for the long run. There is no 'I' in 'TEAM' and Rash fully embodies that motto. Rash is a blue-collared player that will give whatever it takes to make the Halifax forecheck a force to be reckoned with in the VHLM. If anything, Rash can be that player coaches lean on during press conferences to express 'How much grit the team showed during tonight's game'.

Strong on the Puck: Noted above, Rash has a hard time giving that puck up. Teams will get to know Rash as a pest in the offensive zone. Night in, night out look for Rash to help his team get that deep penetration and offensive zone time.

    Weaknesses

Shot: Can't hit the broad side of a barn. In fact, during his time with the Oklahoma Benders, his practice facility had no choice but to start billing him for the glass every time he broke it. Shot is harder than Grandpa's candy but lacks any type of control. 'Is this net regulation size?'

Chirper: Nash will lay his body down for this team but is a Grade-A chirper when it comes to scrums in front of the net. With the Benders, Rash once totaled 30 PIMs in a game, not one of them was a minor. Mouth will get his team in penalty trouble.

Hockey IQ: Nash is willing to do whatever it takes to be that powerful offensive threat but besides his strength and grittiness Nash has no knowledge on the flow of a hockey game. There have been a number of instances in which Rash has been caught too deep in the offensive zone, engaged in an exchange of words with the opposing team's goaltender.

    Summary

Halifax is lucky to have pulled the trigger on this guy. May seem like a bit of a bender but the foundation is there. Give him the opportunity to go toe-to-toe with one of the league's enforcers and his mindset will change. If, and when, Nash comes to his senses and realizes that he has the skills to be a contributing member for Halifax the opportunities will be endless. Look for him to start his rookie campaign with very little impact but that will change as the season progresses. A blooming flower in the making. Set the bar low with this guy and watch him set a league standard for power forwards.

    UPDATED QUESTIONS:

These questions count as regular press conference questions. You can answer 3 of them for 1 TPE or 6 for 2 TPE, but you can't gain more than 2 TPE a week from press conferences, meaning you can't answer these questions if you have already claimed 2 TPE for other press conferences. You could always come back earlier next week to answer these questions, however.
