1. How do you feel you've played being we're 1/7th through the season? I've had a pretty good start so far. I've almost hit my season totals from last season and I feel I've been more disciplined as far as taking penalties. 2. Do you think the veterans have an upper hand so far in the season? Seeing as us vets have more experience than the rookies, sure, but I do my best to help the newer players get the ropes of things and learn some new skills. 3. If you can predict right now, what kind of impact will you have on the team? (most goals, assists, etc?) Hopefully not 80+ PIMs like last season haha. As long as I can score but keep defending well I'm good. 4. Of anyone on the team (besides yourself) who do you think contributes to your success on the ice (your on ice partner)? My defense partner, @HughJas_ is awesome. He definitely helps my on ice play elevate to the next level. 5. If you could have one player come to the Halifax right now, from any team, who would it be and why? Nathan MacKinnon. He was an awesome guy to play with last year and I'd love to see him back. 6. Do you think that Halifax is a contender for the cup? What would you change? Without a doubt I think we can contend for the cup this season. It's just a matter of us growing together as a team as well as finding out exactly who works with who on the line combinations.

1. The opportunity to win it all this year after coming so close last year. 2. Nacho, maybe Gaudette. 3. I just want to do my best. Score some goals, not be a liability out on the ice, and not get nearly as many PIMs as last season. 4. Working on my scoring. Last season I felt I didn’t do enough offensively. 5. Coffey, my defense partner. Hoping we can get even better as the season goes. 6. Management does so much for us. Seriously they help out more than I could ever ask for. Sincerely grateful for them.

1. What is it like being part of Halifax this season? It's awesome. Getting the opportunity to come back after last season is great and I'm super thankful to @Thranduil for giving me a second chance. 2. The captains vote is currently on and besides yourself who is your top choice for captain? I thought Blake Gaudette deserved it and I'm glad that he got the C this year. 3. With the season opener about a week away, how much TPE do you preferably want to have by that point? I'd like to get to 100 TPE or as close as I can. 4. What are your goals for this season, in terms of both individual and team performance? Hoping I can score more this season, be more responsible and take less penalties. 5. What are your thoughts on Halifax's Discord locker-room? Any suggestions on how we could improve it? It's great. We have good talks in there and everyone is friendly. 6. What are your overall thoughts on the team and roster that we have here? Where do you think we'll finish in the standings? I think we managed to keep some guys from last season that will really help us this year, and I'm excited to see how the new guys do once the season starts. Ideally we'll finish at the top, but with the expansion, it's honestly a crapshoot.

1. We are at about the third season mark. What teams are most likely going to face off in the next Founder's Cup final? I feel like Minnesota is probably going to make it, as well as Halifax. 2. What is one trade you'd like your trade to do at this moment? I think Halifax did well in the last trade, and I can't really think of any at the moment. 3. The 3rd World Junior Championship Commissioner was just hired (congrats Frostbeard), meaning the S65 WJC is about to start. Do you think you have what it takes to represent your nation? I would be very honored to be chosen to represent the USA at the WJC, I know if given the call, I will do the best I can. 4. Who are your early favourites to win some awards in the VHLM? MVP, best two-way forward, best defenseman, best goalie? This is a tough one because there are so many talented people in this league. I could see HHH or Jack Lynch winning MVP. And the rest is kind of a crapshoot, just because of the talent level in this league. 5. What's one song that you listen to before stepping on the ice, that will inevitably pump you up and get you ready for action? If I had to pick just one, I'd probably go with The Anti-Cool by a band from back home in TN called On Point. 6. Describe your VHLM team's General Manager and/or Assistant to the General Manager in 3 words. Big Daddy Wolf!

1. Now that some of you have had a chance to settle in, how are you liking the league as a whole so far? Are there any suggestions you have? I've been loving it. The games are fun, the players are all extremely competitive, but always willing to help out in different ways. I honestly can't think of any suggestions, there's not anything I would really change. 2. Do you have any suggestions for either McWolf or I as GMs? Is there a way we could make you feel more welcome? You guys have been absolutely awesome in helping me feel welcome and helping as much as you can with my development as a player. 3. Which VHLM team has the best combination of name, location and logo? (Don't say Halifax, you won't be fooling anyone) I really dig the Houston Bulls' combo. Houston is a pretty awesome city, and I think the name and logo fit very well with the city and the state of Texas. Partially biased being from the Southeast US though. 4. Which VHL team has the best combination of name, location and logo? The Seattle Bears have an awesome combo going. Seattle is a beautiful city, the logo is an awesome design, and the Bears is a fitting name for a team from the PNW. 5. Which VHL team is going to win the Continental Cup? Seattle looks to be the current favorite, but I'm gonna go with Vancouver. 6. Will we continue being as good as we have been for the whole season? That sure is the hope haha. I think as long as everyone does their job and we hold each other to the highest standard, we can definitely keep up the pace.

Papa Gage Born: Nashville, Tennessee, United States (age 25) Height: 6’3” Weight: 225lb Position: Defense Shoots: Left Career Papa Gage began is a late bloomer to the game of hockey, not having picked it up until his late teens. He played in his senior year of high school at Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, TN, where he scored 7 goals and 15 points in 5 games. After graduating high school, he went on to play in the SPHL for the Knoxville Ice Bears, where he played 6 seasons, scoring 125 goals and 320 points in his time there. After last season, he was offered a deal with the Halifax 21st of the VHLM, which he happily accepted with hopes to make the VHL. Strengths Skating – Gage’s skating ability was lauded during his time in high school and while in the SPHL. His ability to sprint down the ice and back quickly is one of his biggest strengths. His ability to switch up directions at the blink of an eye throws many people off, given his bigger stature than most. Defending – Boasting a long reach and exceptional positioning, Papa is able to defend against all but the shiftiest of forwards. With his long reach, he is able to sweep pucks away from attacking forwards, and very easily poke check and stick lift them as well. His positioning allows him to force the opposing team to dump the puck in instead of allowing them to skate freely into the defensive zone. Combine those with his checking abilities, and he is a very solid defender. Checking - From his time playing in the rough and tumble SPHL, Papa has become very proficient at checking and hitting the opposing team. He led the SPHL in hits in his last season there, with 250. His size allows him to check all but the biggest of players, with even them feeling the pain after being on the receiving end of one of Papa’s famous hits. Strength – Papa is one of the heavier players for his height, and that is due to his strength. He rarely gets hit hard enough to lose the puck or balance, and his strength allows him to have some very hard slap shots and one timers. His strength combined with his checking ability help boost his ability to force turnovers and stop players in their tracks when they enter the defensive zone. Weaknesses Puck Handling – Because of his size and long reach, puck handling is one of his weaknesses. He would rather pass every time than have to stick handle through a group of defenders. Due to this, he only jumps deep into the offensive zone on the power play when there is more open ice for him. Fighting – Even coming from a league that is known for line brawls, Papa has never been much of a fighter, and when he does fight, even with his strength, he is not very good at fighting. He avoids fighting as much as he can because of this weakness. Leadership – Papa has always been more of the quiet type when it comes to the locker room, so his leadership ability is not nearly as high as some other players. His lack of leadership has on occasion cost him chances for awards and opportunities. He is supposedly working on this though, and trying to become more of a leader in the locker room, especially since he is so much older than most of the players.
