I think it's safe to say that I was right about this one. For some reason, I really gave a lot of credit to members who were around before last season or before, and Saelven88, who joined the league on April 23, is no exception. Halifax got great value with this pick, though--Gunnarson is their #1 goalie, and has earned more points than any member on this list other than Dan Gles. Though I'd say every goaltender in this draft class was scouted heavily by every GM who needed someone in net, Gunnarson still managed to offer the greatest value out of any of them, by far.

Pretty cool to see how at least one other GM looked at me pre-draft.  Thanks for sharing some insight.

  2. 1.) There's a 50/50 chance of a 20 foot python who hasn't eaten in five months in the hallway. Out of everyone in the locker room who is going out first?

I guess I will.  I'll stomp it with my skates.

2.) How do you get fired up going into a game?

Metal and lots of it.  Rigorous calisthenics as well.

4.) How do you think we finish off the regular season?

Top 4, might make 3 if we stay hot.

5.) What is the most bizarre question you have been asked in a press conference during your career and who asked it?

The one you are about to ask next.

6.) What is the craziest thing a puck bunny has ever done for your attention?

    Acknowledged my existence.

7.) What color hockey tape do you use?

Rotation of team colors on the shaft.  Bright pink on the blade to atract the shooter's eye.

8.) Who is the weirdest Player in our locker room?

I wanna hear the answers to this one....

  3. Word from the Halifax front office is that goaltender Thorvald Gunnarsson is dealing with a lower body injury. He is currently listed as day to day. Gunnarsson appears to have been injured at the 19:05 mark of the second period of the 21st's game against the Yukon Rush. While attempting to make a save on a Nico Suleryski shot, Gunnarson went down. He was reaching right while sliding left and may have overextended himself.

Gunnarsson stayed down after conceding the goal and appeared to be favoring his right thigh and knee. He had to be assisted off of the ice by the trainers and did not return to the bench. Michael Johnson came on in relief and was able to get the win in a shootout.

Halifax has offered no updates on the extent of the injury. Gunnarsson has been sitting on the bench as a backup for Johnson, although he has not practiced much since the injury.
