  1. Is the draft soon.im out of stuff to write about an losing interest slowly i dont wanna be a bust but hard to stay active doing nothing
  2. Vladamir Komarov Height: 6'4 Weight: 225 Jersey Number: 69 Nationality: Russian In a draft that holds many known names there are very few ther prospects who stand out. However the quiet Russian is a name that could be a big suprise heading into the season 39 dispersal draft in the VHLM. The Russian may not be the most outspoken person given the language barrier, but what he has shown is an remarkable work ethic. The big Russian defender has the size to be a force in the league, an he has all the right tools to become a top defensive defender. Born in Omsk, Russia the defender dreamed of becoming a hockey player since he was born, however given his families wealth he was unable too. That was untill he was adopted, since then he has quickly developed into a solid shut down defender who is not afraid to break bones an get in opponents faces. However he has yet to play a game in the VHLM an that may hurt his draft stock, But his numbers over in Russia might impress scouts over the last 2 seasons in the KHL no defender had more shots blocked, penalty minutes, or hits. Hes a physical beast who logged big minutes on his way to the finals in the KHL, where the team eventually fell in 6 to Moscow. He also won the leagues best defender over there in his last season, which could add to his stock despite not much being known about the big Russian. Strengths Komarov has plenty of strengths despite not playing hockey his whole life. His first big strength is his size an his ability to know how to use it, an when to use it. He racks up hits like everyone is just standing still, but he also knows when he needs to back off an use his stick. His second strength is his ability to be in the right position at all times, he never seems to be outta place his in zone coverage is flawless. Another strength an possibily his best ability so far is his skating, he a smooth skating defender for a kid his age and size. He uses this to stay in position or help him get back to stop a breakaway, or two on one. His last strength to his game is his endurance, Komarov is almost always in the gym he is in better shape than most kids his age. He models himself after guys like Selanne, who had great and long careers because they kept themselves in shape an eat properly. With this kind of dedication he hopes he can have a long successful career in the VHL. Weaknesses Like any young player his game comes with flaws as well. One of his biggest weaknesses is his discipline, he always seems to be in the box he needs to learn to play with an edge but avoid penalties that hurt his team. Next up is his offensive ability, hes a good player in his zone but in terms of scoring don't expect to see big numbers from him. He has a cannon of a shot given his size but it lacks any serious control, however if he can ever get that under control he may be able to be a trigger man on teams second power-play unit. His last weakness is his puck control hes not very adept with the puck on his stick an prefers to move it quickly off his stick than make any fancy moves that could cause a turn over. Don't expect him to carry it into the zone for this reason alone however this is an area Komarov has been attempting to improve.

  7. (before i start i apologize for run on sentances etc english is not my first language but dont worry about grading different it helps me improve) Big Russian Defender gears up for the draft. A few days ago Vladamir Komarov declared himself for the VHLM draft. The young Russian defender is a very raw prospect, combine that with the fact he is an unknown makes where he ends up in the draft a mystery. Komarov said he would be happy wherever he ends up and despite declaring himself for the VHLM he is not very familiar with any team out there. Despite living in Russia his whole life he never wondered out of Omsk, which means he never managed to see any of the Moscow games. This means he is more than happy to play for any team out there and hopes he can turn into a stud defender for them. ”I want to be the best defender out there that’s been my goal since day one I won’t quit and whoever drafts him no matter the spot will get a gem” Stated Komarov a day after being declared for the draft. As he works on his skills preparing for the draft we will try to take a stab at least what round we can here Vladamir Komarov name called. Given his unknown factor and how raw of a prospect he is it is safe to say he probably will not hear his name called in the first or even second round. However we fell just given his drive and determination he could hear his name called anywhere from the third or fourth round. Only time will tell but given his willingness to improve we fell teams would be comfortable to draft him as a high risk/ high reward player. This could depend on how teams feel there defense is though. If a team really feels they are set on defense, or a team feels they need to nab a high ceiling defender to solidify their back end then we may see his name called soon, or later than we predict. What is the team who drafts Komarov going to get? Well any team who takes a chance on Komarov will be adding a high ceiling player. With his size, combined with his hockey IQ they are going to add a guy who has the potential to help lead there back end and log big minutes. Komarov is a hard worker and consistently in the gym which means he is in fantastic shape for a player his age. He lacks any true offensive abilities early in his career but with his size, and strength we could see him firing cannons from the point if he can work on his shot. His biggest assets right now are he uses his size well to check opponents, and is not afraid to fight for his teammates; He is very smart in his own zone and makes smart safe plays. However he won’t jump into the play and he is at his best when paired with an offensive minded defense partner. With the draft date unknown Komarov still has plenty of time to improve his stock as he hopes to become one of the best in his class when his name is called. He will continue to work hard till then and perhaps he can surprise everyone and hear his name called rather early. The alternative is the draft is too deep and he becomes a steal for the team that manages to nab him later in the draft. Only time will tell an when the draft is made official I’m sure you will see a happy Komarov no matter where he goes

  14. The Vladamir Komarov Story Growing up as a child in Omsk Russia wasn’t always easy for Komarov whose family could barely afford to feed the young child let alone allow him to play sports. Komarov for years watched the boys skate around the ice rink hoping one day he too could play hockey. It was the only thing he cared for his whole life his dream was to be a superstar. However he felt that dream was going to be an impossible feat till the age of 12 when that all changed. The young Russian was coming home from school one day an saw smoke coming from his street he ran as fast as he could to see what happened. Living in a poor area even a small fire caused major issues with how close houses were he got to his street to see his house burning down in front on him. He screamed for his parents but there was no reply. He kept screaming looking everywhere for them before the fire department showed up. They grabbed the young boy an went to extinguish the fire they eliminated it an went inside the houses there they found his parents. They were not able to escape and were killed by someone who had fallen asleep well cooking in the house beside them. From that day forward his life changed he entered foster care which leads to him being adopted by a younger Russian couple who were unable to have kids of their own. This family moves him to St Petersburg where he goes off to a proper school and he gets his first real shot at playing hockey. He tries out for his school team at first but not having skated before, or even played the game of hockey he is a quick cut. Now however he has the tools he needs to follow his dream. He works hard for 4 years learning how to skate, pass, shoot. He grows bigger and stronger finally at the age of 17 he joins his first official league. He joins the SKA St Petersburg junior squad at 17 and from there he started to hone his game he was a feared player he plays with an edge and he was never afraid to drop the gloves. He was praised for his shut down ability and quickly became one of the best defensive defenders in Russia. He won’t ever be an offensive force in any league he plays in he will provide a defensive presence like no other. From there he went on to play for the big team an ended up capturing the league’s best defense man award in his rookie season as SKA St Petersburg went on to win the title. Winning this award was unheard of as a rookie let alone as an 18 year old kid who just started playing hockey at 13 years old. He has come a long way a decided that despite being a hit in Russia he wanted to come over to play in North America this season as he looks to make a name for himself in the VHL. However before he heads over to North America he will get to represent his country in the Ivan Hlinka and looks to be a lock to make Russia world junior squad next season. For a kid whose only played hockey for 6 years this is a rather impressive accomplishment and this true underdog story could be one to watch as it unfolds over in North America he’s the type of player fans love. Here are his career stats in the 2 seasons he played over in Russia. The offensive totals aren’t what jump out to most scouts it’s his raw ability to shut down team’s top player that has scouts in the VHL salivating over his skill set coming to the VHL. However you look at it if Komarov can keep developing at the pace he has since he started hockey he could become a top 2 defender in the VHL. At the age of 19 he will soon find out if he has what it takes to become a top defender in the VHL or if he will fly back to Russia where he will be treated as a god. Career stats SKA St Petersburg JR GP 50 4G 15A 19P +30 180H 40SB 184PIMs SKA St Petersburg GP 52 5G 20A 25P +31 190H 45SB 192PIMs For those looking to draft Vladamir Komarov they are going to get 3 big things. The first is a defender who is not afraid to mix it up with opponents and protect his teammates. He’s a tough customer and he won’t back down from a fight if need be. Next up links again to being a tough customer he’s a strong big player who likes to check a hit he is smart with that however and does not chase out of position to make a big hit. Last but not least is his ability to shut down opponents if he is not using his body to check an opponent off the puck he’s just as quick with his stick. He is just always in the right spot defensively and as he grows he will be a force to be reckoned with. His defensive game is uncanny an compared to the likes of Shea Weber, and Duncan Keith. He does come with cons however he’s not perfect and given he’s only played hockey for 6 years this is no surprise. His first con is he does not think offense he won’t produce much of anything from the back end if your team is looking for a power play quarterback look elsewhere he won’t be it. Next is his puck skills he is not very nifty with the puck he generally is good at getting it off opponents sticks but carrying it he won’t do he tries to get rid of it as quick as he can to avoid turn overs. However this is a skill he hopes to work on as his game grows. Last but not least is his skating he has been working hard on it since day one but he needs a professional teacher he’s gone as far as he can learning on his own in this area. This is the area Komarov has been quoted on being the weakness he wants to work on the most as he doesn’t want to be blown past because he can’t keep up with the faster forwards as this would hinder his upside. His size means if he can work on this area he could easily be a top 2 shut down defender for many years to come.
