I'm finally spending all my banked points (82), and I've got my scoring from 85.66 > 95 (33), strength from 60 > 70 (10), and checking from 56 > 60 (4). That leaves 35 points left. Was wondering if I should put some into leadership?

philthethrill81 reacted to CowboyinAmerica in Wingate ecstatic with Calgary trade
Calgary, AB -- Coming into the VHL, Calgary Wranglers goaltender Hans Wingate had perhaps the least realistic goal of all-time: He wanted to be a Hall of Famer. To do so, however, often requires winning early in a goaltender's career. Of the past four goalies to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, three (Tukio, Labatte, CAL G) won a title in the first half of the player's career.

Given that he was drafted to a rebuilding team, Wingate wasn't sure whether he'd do the winning early requisite to a HoF candidacy. However, the team may have eliminated that doubt in one quick stroke.

On the second day of the offseason, the Wranglers traded draft picks to the Toronto Legion for star forwards Tyler Cote and Jackson Miller, with a second half of the deal yet to be determined. For Wingate, both players represent exciting opportunities. Miller's agent has been around the VHL since its inception and (especially when combined with presumptive #2 selection Kerkko Hyvarinen) gives the team an expert source from which to draw and allows Wingate to train with this agent for the first time. Cote's agent, meanwhile, fielded a player that was teammates with Wingate's agent for many seasons in Seattle, and both have unfinished business in capturing a championship.

"I couldn't be more excited to have these guys in Calgary," Wingate said. "It completely reshapes our team. I had heard some rumors through the locker room about a move, but when it actually happened, it instantly got me more excited for this season. It's still early in my career, but I want to win."

Will it be enough to catapult Calgary to the level of Quebec and reigning champions Seattle? That remains to be seen, but for now, optimism reigns in Calgary.

Can't say I was expecting to see Calgary as my destination but I'm excited to be a Wrangler. Pretty sure I haven't been since like S3 or S4.

Hopefully my play is more like the first 7 games instead of last season and less like the last 65.

philthethrill81 reacted to Harumpf in Harumpf on Team Scandinavia
After losing the S40 World Cup Gold Medal game to USA, Team Scandinavia is seeking revenge and their thirst can only be quenched with a Gold Medal. The S40 team was good, but this team is even better as everyone is improved. Team Captain Aksel Thomassen is a superstar in the VHL and that should carry over into the World Cup, especially since Harumpf will be setting him up for goals. Harumpf is a world class center, but on this team it's looking like Harumpf's elite playmaking skills will be used on the top line wing with Thomassen and Teuvo Ruutu. These guys are pretty lucky getting to play with Harumpf as he makes everyone instantly better. The second line is also looking great for Scandinavia with Sundberg, Kurri and Jakobsen. This top 6 can light the lamp with the best of them and will have Team Scandinavia as one of the tournament favorites. Their defense is also looking good with Fjorrstrom, Karlsson, Samuelsson and Jeddston and goaltending is strong with Gow and Skovsgard. Easily a gold medal team in Harumpf's opinion and with a few impending World Cup Harumpf'ings we like Team Scandinavia's chances.

So far this season we have Jakobssen leading us with 44 points in 43 games, so nice work phil!\

Close behind we have Marcus Hurley with 41 points in 43 games

Jaime Hill has just 21 points, but she leads the team with 140 hits and has 73 shots blocked

    Edgrr is still edgrr

And Wingate has a .920 save percentage which is pretty impressive  considering this team

    McFullO’Schmidt Signs with Calgary
    by Dick Shivers

Stabby McFullO’Schmidt’s career looks like it’s starting to turn around. Shortly after waking up from his coma, the Calgary Wranglers have signed the undrafted defenseman to a 3 ELC deal worth 5 million.

Stabby is a player who’s, frankly, not very good. He’s had a rough past and didn’t impress too many people at the S44 Draft Combine. When he was left alone in the player pool after the draft had concluded, he drank himself silly and punched himself into a coma, which lasted approximately 2 months.

“I hit rock bottom.” Stabby admitted. “I didn’t know what else to do with my life and felt that it would be best to punch out my rage, since I couldn’t do it on the ice anymore.”

Since waking up, Stabby has gone on a tear in for the league-leading Bratislava Watchmen in the VMHL, posting 3 assists and a +7 rating through 8 games with the club.

“He’s got a new sense of purpose; a stronger focus and better perspective on his career,” teammate Simon Valmount remarked. “I can’t wait to see him in the big league, because if he keeps it up . . . he will surely make it.”

After putting pen to paper, I had a chance to ask Stabby why he decided to sign with Calgary:
“Tim Tebowgow and Chuck Goody both reached out to me and have been huge pillars of support since recovering.” Stabby said to reporters at the signing press conference. “Calgary is a young team and they are devoted to developing my skills to their full potential . . . I know we don’t look like much now, but get ready VHL, we’re coming.”

The 7’0”, 300lb defenseman will stay with Bratislava this season; as their hopes of lifting the cup seem high in the early-going. The blue-liner didn’t see much time in his first season, but hopes that a year in the minors will help his recovery and strengthen his game as he anxiously awaits the trans-Atlantic flight to take him to Calgary.

“I heard it’s cold there,” Stabby joked. “It’s not going to deter me from dropping the gloves, though.”

Stabby is signed with the Wranglers through season 45. Here are the details:
