Honestly that's pretty nice for being free. We did consider buying a theme a little while ago but had other stuff come up first. @Will you have access to our IPB account now eh?

10th Year is pretty dark. Though the main area in posts is still white. the problem with having a dark theme and a light theme over posts is that when someone uses colour or whatnot in their MS it doesn't necessarily show the same in both.

Which is why we wanted to now make it clear that it’ll count for anyone so that GM’s can’t send their players to break the rules instead of them; not that it’s what happened. Been kinda a grey area for awhile that some people complained about it and others didn’t.

It’s been pitched before. Some love it, some hate it. Personally I think the majority would use an overall VHL theme over a specific team theme so I doubt it would ultimately be used enough to justify the effort in making them unless we just like changed the banner in each one. That’s easy but a full on colour scheme for each is a lot.

A quick update for you all today. No punishments or anything coming from it but its something @Quik and I wanted to address. Officially tampering; that is trying to lure players away from their current teams and to your own, has always been illegal in the VHL. However there's never really been officially worded rules regarding it or any consistency regarding punishment for it. That is why the following clarification is being made: That sounds a little legal but it gets the point across. Basically, you can chat with other members about your teams all you want, that's fine. But do not, either publicly or privately, try to persuade other members into joining your teams. This goes double for GM's but it applies to regular members as well. We will be policing tampering claims and we will be punishing for them if they appear severe enough. This is, of course, up to our discretion so not all claims will receive punishment but the option is officially out there. Thank You, @Commissioner

Themes are actually kinda a pain to make so I honestly don’t see us making custom ones for every single team. However we should probably update them yeah.

I would say at least 3. League discussion, the root of the game’s forum, and the old records section. Mind you the old records section is less important than the other two but still. I’m also not opposing the questions being harder, especially with them being multiple choice. I just think that having the locations of these old spreadsheets be more accessible would be good if they are going to be required so heavily.

It’s not that they aren’t available. It’s figuring out exactly which one that you need and then finding it amongst the 3 or 4 different places they are located and then deciphering what’s in them. Not so easy for those of us that didn’t construct most of them We really should consolidate our spreadsheets. I mean ideally get the accurate information on the portal but at least having everything in one place would help.

I’m good at holding records only when you count the portal’s records haha. Pretty sure it says I’m the all time leader in SO as well which I’m not. Also, god damn, these new questions definitely require an intimate knowledge of some old spreadsheets.

Honestly didn’t even realize I was that high in +/- haha. I’ve been focussed so much in points, goals, and hits that I guess I didn’t look at anything else.

Honestly a cup and those numbers aren’t bad for a first player. You could have definitely been a lot worse.

He’re hoping Discipline is a better effect on PIM than it does on Hits and I didn’t just completely neuter myself in an attempt to stay out of the box.

@Devise did this sim. Were your lines sent to both emails as requested in the GM forum or just the normal one?

Oh yeah, meant to answer this, oh well. Don’t need the TPE but the overall leaderboard is gonna be lacking for me.

I had a 15 game pointless streak last season. Team not not the sim hates me.

Honestly that does matter. If people knew about this before they should have brought it to the league’s attention before. We don’t go through and spot check everyone’s past updates, we trust that our updates are doing that as they go. So if you know there’s a massive breach of rules like this we need it brought to our attention.

Welcome to my hell. I’ll have 4 points a game for a week and then drop off to 0 for the next two weeks.

Kinda because I wonder what purpose it serves. Hiring and paying someone to sift through the PbP and make it interesting for an hour while how many people “watch”, maybe 10? If it’s a single game that means 2 teams, even 2 really active teams have maybe 10-12 players on them so that’s 20-24 players total who will be interested since people won’t care if it’s not their team. If you remove the ones that can’t watch because time zones fuck with them I’d imagine you have fewer than 10 members actually around for it. So at the end of the day we’d be paying someone to take a long time to do something (that anyone could read themselves) for 10 members. I don’t personally see the use of that. Maybe for like All-Star games or something which have a wider appeal but that’s about it. I don’t think for regular games there is a lot of point to it.

Honestly I’ve always enjoyed having daily sims in the VHL far more than having PbP. That’s kinda always been the case for me. I find in football sims and whatnot I don’t have the time in my day to sit down and read the entire thing anyway so it adds a ton of work for something that personally I don’t read which just means fewer sims. That’s why I like daily sims. Allows me to see usually 2 games per day for my player and I can check it quickly. Part of what has worked in the VHL’s favour for longevity is that our sims take basically no time. I think adding to that workload is setting ourselves up for failure. FWIW as much as I don’t care about them, STHS does provide full PbP in a sense at the bottom of the full game thread. We use prettier looking portal ones but you can get to the full ones and see the full thing if you wanted or we wanted to use them. To me it just isn’t worth it.
