Little more detail? What do you mean bring them back? They used to be on player pages but we don’t really have player pages anymore so unless @Will can find a way to put them into the portal pages I don’t see a use. Plus they were never kept updated. Maybe do them for HoF players? That way the stats are final so they won’t change and we can place them at the top of the HoF articles.

Fair enough, I misunderstood the intention.

It technically follows the rules however I’m not sure it was the intention of the rule to allow a former GM player to be traded aside from like a deadline rental right before the new one comes in. The intention was to make sure that teams couldn’t get value for their formerly free players which this does. Maybe I just skimmed the rules as @Quik wrote them up but this definitely doesn’t seem like what we intended for them. Like Ibsaid it fits the rules as they are written mind you so I can’t really say it’s void but it seems like an odd interpretation.

Like I said, all the prizes will be worth the same give or take like 2 TPE; it’s just a matter of how it’s earned. Also with how Cast’s career is going I would hardly say you have the worst luck haha

Seattle has 4 D-Men so we’re actually pretty decently set. But yeah, we don’t tend to have a lot of them, at least not official ones. We’ve had unofficial ones before where people were helping out and some of them even had access in GM areas but for the most of the time AGM’s are only a thing in the VHLM where they are more needed for the constant scouting and training up the younger generation of players.

It’s literally just because it’s pre-draft. Honestly if you had done this in 2 weeks, regardless of where Wahl is drafted, I doubt the issue would have seemed as extreme. As it stands it looks kinda like you putting a claim into an undrafted player. Not saying you are or that was your intention but it’s how things can look; especially when you consider that AGM’s aren’t the norm at the VHL level.

Just for my own personal reference, this is the 10th selection so I will have #3.

Hello VHL! First off, congratulations to the Riga Reign and Saskatoon wild for winning their respective championships! I wanted to hold off on starting this until after the finals but since they are done I see no reason to wait any longer. This off-season happens to fall right smack in the middle (or at least the start of) most people’s Christmas breaks which means it also has room to get some extra TPE! Similar to what we did last year there will be 4 prizes given out for Christmas, you just need to decide which one you want. But of course, as with all gifts, you don’t know what you get until it’s unwrapped so they will be randomized. As members, all you have to do is post in here with your gift selection, so pick a number between 1 and 4. On Christmas Eve I will tally up who gets what and act as the VHL Santa to hand out the gifts. Everything should be relatively even TPE wise (just different methods of getting it) but just to show there’s no funny business I won’t pick a number for myself. Rather I will get the same number as whomever posts 10th in this topic. So pick your gifts and enjoy a Merry VHL Christmas / any other Holiday you want! Sincerely, @Commissioner

So now you guys can quit it with the draft lotto luck and Cast can chill out right? I’d like at least one of my players to not play second fiddle Seriously though, well done. To go from being a lottery team to winning a cup in 2 seasons is no easy task.

Honestly this all got blown out of proportion. I don’t believe @BladeMaiden or @Beaviss had any kind of nefarious intentions here. As Beav has already said, he has a young goalie already so why would he be trying to poach Wahl from the draft? However I don’t think all the hate aimed at @Bushito is fair either. I don’t think it’s necessarily a slight against him in any way and I also don’t think drafting Wahl would be unsafe but I can see where he’s coming from. Bush likes loyalty and he has been burned before so having someone that he was scouting take a high up role on another team could seem a little risky. Ultimately no one has done anything wrong, I just wish @Quik and I could have been informed of the decision so that we could accurately prepare for potential blowback. It is a bit of an odd situation to pick someone before they are even drafted; whether or not the intentions were noble enough. Honestly this has no reason to be as big of a deal as it’s becoming.

You have the same ability to go re-look as I do haha. If I recall @Quik was against a full separation as well among others.

Seattle doesn’t either but that’s still 50%.

There was a lot of discussion around doing just that when we finalized the GM changing rules a little while ago. Personally I agree that it would drastically simplify things but there were points made both ways.

FWIW I never said we’d never allow it, just that we’d like to be able to approve of the member being chosen. No different than when a GM is stepping down and we approve of their replacement. It is being blown out of proportion for sure but it is a bit of a weird situation. I was fine with a VHL AGM when Quik mentioned that it was being asked for but was confused when I say that it was a player who wasn’t drafted yet. It’s not that it’s a huge deal, it just could potentially sway the draft unfairly as I mentioned. No guarantee it would but it COULD.

Not major just an option. Let’s say, for the sake of example, that I took over GMing Calgary right now. One of my options would be to leave Canmore (I think that’s your GM player correct?) as the GM player and not create one for myself or trade for Thompson. It’s not directly removed because the options are still there and likely more popular but it’s an option.

Honestly @Quik and I spoke about it and while we’ll allow it this time if any GM’s are looking at AGM’s in the future we would prefer to be pet of the conversation as to who. I don’t love the idea of hiring someone as an AGM who hasn’t been drafted yet. As @Bushito implies it kinda ties the allegiance to a team in advance of the draft which can sway the draft unnecessarily. While I’m okay with the fact that we’ve somewhat separated GM from team (in that you don’t need a GM sure on your team) I find that’s different from an AGM which really isn’t an essential part of the league.
