  1. 1. Pretty excited for the VHL entry draft, and to find out who I'm going to play for next season. VHLM? VHLE? Right to the show? I have no idea what I'm doing. 2. I expect my player to go early 2nd round, maybe late 1st if a team really wants to reach. 3. I don't particularly like either team, but Avalanche. 4. I have midnight cheese and crackers with alarming regularity. 5. I don't watch a ton of recent film or television. I'm a bit of an aviation enthusiast so I did go watch the new Top Gun film at the cinema, it was pretty good, albeit cheesy and predictable. 6. We all have to make our own luck.
  2. 1. After a bit of a skid to end the season, the Hounds are playing the San Diego Marlins in the first round of the playoffs. Do you like our chances? 2. Who is going to win the VHLM championship this season? 3. How do you feel about your players' performance now that the regular season is behind us? 4. Erik Finck and Sax Justice were tied for the team lead in Bones of Destiny in the regular season, but now the slate is clean - who do you think is going to be our Most Valuable Boner in the playoffs? 5. Any predictions for what your player is going to do/achieve next season? 6. Have you been watching the Stanley Cup playoffs? Who's going to win the Cup?
  3. 1. Yep, we're just getting started. 2. Yes, we've been so hot lately that even though it's getting late in the season we can still catch some of the teams ahead of us. 3. Yes, be able to roll the lines and keep everyone fresh. 4. We've got me, which is good, but now we've got @Phil which is great. 5. It's awesome, it's a fun way to encourage locker room activity. 6. O Canada baby
  4. 1. We'd been a playing .500 hockey for a while, but the last week or so we seem to have really kicked it up a notch, it's been great. 2. Scoring isn't spectacular, but winning faceoffs and not getting blown up on +/- so I'll take it. 3. No, not particularly. VHL is my secondary sim league so I try to blast off VHL stuff as quickly as possible. 4. Tough call. Currently, I'm a big fan of Bo Horvat on the Canucks. But I've never been big into hero-worship of pro athletes. 5. I was a math/science guy. Physics was my jam. But I was a nerdy kid that did well in school so I enjoyed all of it. 6. NHL playoffs have been really entertaining! Other than the Colorado/Nashville series, everything else has been really close.
  5. 1. This is a tough one. Carolina, Minnesota, or Nashville I guess. 2. Colorado 3. Believe it or not, Toronto. 4. I think Toronto knocks off Tampa, not sure what happens after that. 5. My guy has been pretty poor lately, but it's a slow grind to get better. 6. Team performance for sure. I don't mind if my player sits on the bench or only kills penalties or whatever if it helps us win games.
  6. 1. Wish my own player was getting on the score sheet more often, but he's pretty low TPE so this is to be expected. 2. Locker room is pretty good, but there aren't very many very active users. 3. Team is 7-5, but it looks like we're in the stronger division, so we really need to pick it up during games within the division. 4. Calgary Wranglers for sure. 5. I absolutely love it, I think it's one of the most unique and fun things I've encountered in any sim league. 6. I'm not a huge TV/film guy, but it's probably a toss up between Star Trek TNG/DS9, or The Wire.
  7. Mississauga Hounds Press Conference: 1. The season has started! Do you have any particular goals, stats or otherwise, that you'd like to achieve with your player this season? 2. How do you think the Hounds are going to do in the VHLM this season? 3. Do you have a particular "archetype" that you are building your player towards (sniper, playmaker, defensive defenseman etc) or are you just putting points into whatever you feel like? 4. Did you participate in VHL Fantasy this season? If so, how happy are you with your team? 5. Is there a particular team in the VHLE or VHL that you hope to get drafted to? 6. What is your favourite pro sports team?
  8. Fellas, I'm allowed 12 hours to make my picks, and I intend to use 11 hours and 59 minutes of it every time! Nah just kidding, good luck everyone... you're going to need it.
  9. F - Sigard Petrenko G - Em Em Flex and I think I'm finished. @Berocka
  10. F - Brendan Telker D - Poopy Peepants @Berockastill up.
  11. Hah, whoops. D - Erlantz Jokinen @Berocka
  12. I am truly sorry for the crimes against good taste that I have committed.
  13. Pretty boring podcast this week, stupid off-season. Anchor Spotify
  14. Eso is in, give me a piece of that fantasy cheddar
  15. Sax Justice was born in England, but was orphaned shortly after he was born and grew up with a foster family in Canada (it's a long story, I was doing some roleplay in the PBE when I first created this character). He grew up in Weyburn, Saskatchewan and like many of his peers, played ice hockey growing up on outdoor rinks during the cold prairie winters. Unlike most players that eventually turn pro, Justice did not dominate his local youth leagues at any level, and mostly played house league. He did play well enough to get invited to try out for travel teams through most of his youth, and while his foster sister also played competitive women's hockey, it was very much a hockey household. Due to his dual citizenship, Justice was offered a scholarship to play for a private school in Cambridge, United Kingdom, and there he quickly became a "big fish in a small pond" as very few of the local English players had as much as experience with ice hockey as he did. In a fledgling league consisting of several schools in England, Justice quickly emerged as a star player, whom many of the rival teams begrudged, believing him to be a "ringer" brought in from Canada. To these accusations Justice could only laugh, knowing that he had only been a middle of the pack player in Canada. Even while playing against older youths, Justice's combination of speed, vision, and hands allowed to him to lead the league in scoring for all three years that he played in it, often using his speed and puckhandling to execute his "signature move" of carrying the puck through the neutral zone, going outside on the defenseman, and driving towards the side of the net before throwing a cross crease pass to a teammate for a tap-in. During this time Justice did not neglect his studies, though he did miss the more pervasive hockey culture back in Canada. As he approached the end of his secondary school career, Justice weighed his options. Several colleges and universities in the United Kingdom had offered scholarships and he thought long about the opportunity to continue being something of a local superstar, however he did worry that the relatively poor strength of local competition might be holding back reaching his full potential as a hockey player. Fatefully, that Christmas break when he was back in Canada, the local senior men's amateur team was shorthanded and he agreed to fill in. Here, even playing amateur hockey, he relished the speed and intensity of playing against other people who had grown up with hockey. That experience helped him make up his mind to decline the offers to play collegiate hockey in England and instead to declare eligibility for the minor division of the Victory Hockey League. 470 words
  16. I have done a poor job of retiring forever from the VHL, and am back with a new player after just a few weeks. In this episode I discuss my reason for returning, my goals for my new player, and also give a bit of a retrospective on the career of my first player. Anchor Spotify

Thanks folks. I'm going to miss the Wranglers for sure, but I'm excited to see what I can do in Europe on the larger ice surface and with sponsors logos on our jerseys.
  19. 1. Man, I'm pretty torn. Nuggets (I'm not talking Mcdonalds, I'm talking like a home made breaded and fried/baked piece of chicken breast is pretty good, but wings have a bit more fat, skin, and colour which gives them a better flavour. I'm going to cop out and not take a side, I'll devour either. 2. I like to drink light beer during the game, but after the game I'll switch to the good stuff, maybe a nice dark mild or a craft IPA. 3. Fuckin' win some more games here boys 4. I don't watch a lot of TV or movies, but All or Nothing looks entertaining (and I'm not a Leafs fan, but it's always fun to see "behind the curtain" of pro sports. 5. I actually have a relevant streamable. And with Steve Eso being the Bo Horvat of the Calgary Wranglers, I think everyone should be afraid to challenge me: https://streamable.com/lbr5w 6. I've never been a big celebrity worship guy.
  20. 1. Same thing as last season, good team defense and goaltending. We have the fewest goals against in the conference. 2. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/699307026475384932/891923803783954502/unknown.png 3. It's really quite simple. If you never lose, you're probably going to win a lot of games. 4. Every time he touches the puck there's a chance it's going to end up in the back of the net. 5. See the above low effort meme for question 2. 6. I like being involved in every aspect of play. Taking faceoffs, killing penalties, powerplays, tracking back all the way down-low in our own end, and playing all the way up to cycling behind the net in the offensive zone, centers really need to have a good 200 foot game.
  21. 1. Who da fook is this guy? 2. I'm always happy with the Wranglers. 3. Securing a supply of clean urine so that I can cheat the drug testing. 4. "Roll Call" by Lil Jon, who is the voice of our generation. 5. We like our team Barry. 6. Two words: Rookie Dinner. Bring your chequebooks, kids.
  22. 1. Zero. Don't even know who's playing in the final. 2. Golfing, 36 holes per day. Maybe I really am a Toronto Maple Leaf. 3. Whoever Ricer's current player is. Seems bizarre to be the GM but have your player somewhere else. 4. I mean, is it cheating to say Gretzky? I feel like I would have a career just by getting proximity points alone. 5. Jai alai, synchronized swimming, and caber toss. 6. Just fuckin' send it.
