  2. 1: It’s Theme Week! If you were Commish of the VHL for a day, what changes would you make to the league?! I'd make a lottery system per class/year each season that automatically spot-bonuses players so that linear progression isn't the only way for people to grow in the league, which isn't how it is IRL. Some rookies should blow up, 2nd, 3rd years, etc. Make these percentages low and also not required so there could be seasons when no player 'blows up' 2: What job would you like to have in this league?! (ie. GM, Commie, Updater, Moderator, etc.) None of the above (except maybe Moderator) 3. Your player is looking for a change of scenery! What team in your current league would you want to be traded too? London? I honestly don't know many of the teams here TBH other than the ones I'm on and try to do well on. 4. Which point tasks do you find is too difficult to do?! Is it worth the amount of tpe offered to do it? None, they're all pretty straightforward given I don't do most of them. 5. It was a busy week in the NHL with the draft, free agency, etc. Overall, how would you say your favourite team did? Highlight some key moments. Caps seemingly did fine, interesting stuff happened at the top, good on secondary leagues like NHL and MLB to put a little more 'oomph' in their drafts. 6. Nutella or PB & J!? PB&J.
  3. 1. The Wranglers are rolling! Sitting near the top of the standings yet again. Is the team performing to expectation or are we over achieving? we expect to win every night so it's not overachieving, it's simply achieving. 2. Are there any other teams that surprising you good or bad in the standings? (For prospects you can refer to your current league VHLE or VHLM) i'm focused on where we are, and blocking out the rest of the noise. i'll focus on the standings once we have playoff seeds. 3. The team is going on a group vacation for the weekend! Where is our destination and what activities are we doing? grand cayman for beach beverages and fun 4. AirRig GoodBrandSun has a few too many drinks during our vacation and shows up to practice not his 100 percent self. How does the coach respond to this?! we're all running hockey suicides, unfortunately. puking is guaranteed 5. Rock, paper, scissors! What’s your go to starting move?! On the second move do you repeat or switch it up? paper and always switching 6. The NHL Draft is this week, who do you want to see drafted by your favourite team?! honeslty i have no clue who's eligible and who my team is targeting. Hockey in the offseason needs a major upgrade to get on the level of NBA and NFL.
  4. 1. How are you feeling about your players start to the season? I think he's doing well so far. Named an assistant captain I think, scored some goals I believe, huge penis. Pretty pretty good 2. Would you consider yourself an active teammate or a quiet one? Quiet but set that expectation early and think I have the right management in place to still maximize me 3. Calgary is off to their usual slow start, what could the GM do differently to help prevent these from happening? More testing in the preseason. Come on guys. 4. This will be Daniel Jansers final season. What’s the over/under of him getting 90 points? Over. Sad that it's his last season. 5. The Vegas Golden Knights have won the Stanley Cup, How do you feel about that? Lot of publicity right now, good on them, well deserved. Really cool backstory on them. 6. Our AGM Otis just got home from Ireland. If you could go anywhere in the world right now for 7 days, where are you going? New Zealand probably, although Maldives sounds heavenly. As it stands, will be going to the mountains for a month in July anyway which is pretty damn special to me.
  5. This is the June installment of our interview series with Steve Lattimer, forward in the VHL. The Sun Gazzette is has a new monthly column that will cover the playing career of Steve Lattimer, who has recently joined the VHL. Beat reporter Michael J. Smith will be sitting down with Lattimer every month in his hometown of Mooselookmeguntic, Maine. Smith: So what's up? Lattimer: Feeling sick unfortunately. Think I drank too much this weekend. Smith: Why'd you drink so much? Lattimer: Because life wears you down sometimes. Smith: SBA-related? Lattimer: no not that, but always good to see Boston lose. Smith: How's VHL life? Lattimer: Great. Hit the 400 TPE mark. Team seems pretty happy with my progress. Feel like I'm contributing and putting in effort even though VHL isn't my thing. Smith: Maybe it should become your thing. Lattimer: Maybe it should become yours. Smith: It is. Lattimer: Next question. Smith: Any goals for Lattimer in VHL or SBA for that matter? Lattimer: Just ride out my HOF eligibility for SBA until I quit forever. For VHL, keep making progress i guess? Smith: What do you think of the NHL Playoffs? Lattimer: Want Florida to make a comeback down 3-1 but losing game 4 was brutal. Don't see it happening. Here's to hoping though. This wraps up our next edition of our monthly column with Steve Lattimer, member of the VHL.
  6. 1. Draft day has come and gone, How did Calgary do with their 4 picks in the top 18? We obviously hit home runs. Our front office is better than anyone else's in the entire league. We set benchmarks everyone has to meet. 2. The new prospects are fitting in well with the group so far. How do you find the overall experience in Calgarys LR? A little too active for my liking since i get a lot of notifications haha, but it's cool. Good chemistry. 3. What is a way that Calgary could improve the locker room experience? Less notifications but that's just for me specifically. I'm fat. 4. What is your favourite number and what’s the story behind why it is your fave? Used to love 7 just because, 55 because I was a big man in high school basketball, don't know that I have a favorite number. 5. Calgary is down a forward after moving Sax Justice for a whopping 1st rounder, where should we look to fill this hole? just rely on the team to become really good. Next man up. 6. East coast or West coast? And why? East coast because it's way more connected. Have lived on both coasts though. West coast is fine.
  7. 1. The draft is right around the corner! How do you like to enjoy draft season? Are you drafting, watching or just letting the cards fall? Letting the cards fall. I have full faith that the team leadership knows what it's doing, they don't need me over their shoulder inserting stupid opinions. 2. What is one thing that you would want to know about a potential prospect before drafting them to your team? How committed they are to earning. Period. Earning rights many wrongs. 3. How important do you think the offseason tournaments are to a player's legacy? Very. I think? I think any chance to gain accolades against your peers is something to put on the ledger. 4. This will unfortunately be the last season we have with Daniel Janser. How important has he been to the identity, success and legacy of this franchise? He's been everything to me, personally. Wouldn't be here with him, literally. 5. I am off camping for most of this week! Do you enjoy camping/glamping? What are some luxuries you can't live without? Hate camping, never been glamping. This is ironic for someone who has a home in the mountains. 6. I assume we will be on the hunt for a new AGM soon. What are some qualities that you think make a great AGM? Communication, communication, communication.
  8. 1. Who's the biggest prankster in your teams locker room? Definitely the head coach. He keeps taking pictures of guys' penises and posting them as billboard material. Really strange stuff. 2. What intangibles do the coaches like that your player brings to the ice? Communication. I'm a very open, honest, and responsive communicator. They know where I stand and what they'll get from me. 3. If you had to pick a team your player is not affiliated with to visit and watch a game, which would it be and why? Not sure, not familiar with many teams although maybe that London team i think I've seen in the forms sometimes. 1. Who is your favorite NHL player of all time and why? 2. Are there any cities whose sports teams you just absolutely loathe because of the city, irrespective of who is on the team? 3. What 'loyalty' programs are you in - credit cards, hotels, gaming, etc?
  9. 1. What's up, Wranglers?! We've defeated Chicago in the semi-finals 4-1. As this post, we're tied with our current opponent Seattle 1-1 in the conference finals. Where is your player's confidence level compared to last week? Did we? Damn I had no idea. Let's do this. My confidence went to irrelevant to sky high. 2. Oskar Lindbergh is currently leading playoff goalies with an incredible .961 save percentage, allowing only 9 goals with 2 shutouts. What is it like having a goalie of this caliber on the team? When you have a backstop like Oskar, it gives you all the confidence in the world. Can skate more freely, aggressively, put more pressure on the opposition. This is the style we want to play but can only play with a guy like big dick Oscar. 3. Who would you rather see in the finals... London or a rematch against Davos? rematch. Kill them. 4. Which of your teammates has given some inspiration to your player lately? Janser. I don't know if he's actually a teammate or not but he's my guy. 5. Is it warm enough yet? It's been around 30C for us down here in Texas. Too warm too fast. Love me some sweatshirt weather. 6. How do you like your eggs cooked? Completely depends. On top of a burger? Fried, sunny side up. Bagel sandwich, give me scrambled. Never poached.
  10. This is the May installment of our interview series with Steve Lattimer, forward in the VHL. The Sun Gazzette is beginning a new monthly column that will cover the new playing career of Steve Lattimer, who has recently joined the VHL. Beat reporter Michael J. Smith will be sitting down with Lattimer every month in his hometown of Mooselookmeguntic, Maine. Smith: So how are you feeling about VHL right now? Lattimer: Pretty good. Communicative GMs, trying to do a good job for them, think it's working out. Smith: We hear you're quitting soon though? Lattimer: Fake news. I'll quit when my time in the SBA is up which won't be for another 6 or so seasons (in SBA time) by my count. Smith: SBA sounds lame. Lattimer: You said it, not me. Smith: Why would someone like me think it's lame? Lattimer: Probably because of how ironic the league is and the changing of goalposts to fit the narratives of the elites there. Smith: Isn't that typical though? Lattimer: Probably. More power to them. Smith: Are you having fun with Lattimer? Lattimer: Yeah VHL's been good, heard I was 6th in the league in points or goals or something. Glad my GMs are pleased with my progress. I try to be a present, available player. Smith: Will you have any regrets leaving VHL or SBA? Lattimer: Only that I'll have to find other productive ways of wasting my time between other things in my life. Smith: What do you think of the NHL Playoffs? Lattimer: Really sad that Toronto and Edmonton couldn't break through to the conference finals. Was hoping at least one of them would. The world needs to see more Connor McDavid. This wraps up our next edition of our monthly column with Steve Lattimer, member of the VHL.
  11. 1. What's up, Wranglers?! Playoffs start this week! What's the vibe? I have no idea, i thought we didn't make it. If that's true, then sad. 2. What is your player doing in their downtime until the first series starts? ALways in the grind. That's what I do. That's what my coaches want out of me. Always getting better. 3. The staff have organized a charity event where one-of-a-kind player jerseys are being actioned off and the proceeds go to a non-profit! Which charity/non-profit organization would you see the team supporting most? Big Brothers Big Sisters of America 4. What has your player been working on in the practice facility lately? Poke Checking. That's what my coaches laid out for me in terms of my offseason regimen, and that's what I'll be much better at come next season. 5. Are you allergic to bees? Nope. I hate them though. 6. Would you rather fight a bee as big as a person or a bee as strong as a person? Small person for agility?
  12. 1) With us being on the edge of a playoff spot, What players need to step up for the team? 2) If you had to bring a former/new team into the VHL/M/E What would the name be? 3) Should the OLD Trivia Format be brought back or is the new(er) one still good. 4) Do you prefer to make Sigs, Milestone, Humor or another type of graphic? 5) Can Seattle Upset the Avs? 6) Will Toronto come back after the terrible game last night? 1) i'm not sure what happened but I hope Lattimer rose above and helped the team to unprecedented success and achieving a playoff berth 2) The PondScum 3) i have no idea what the old trivia was, was it cooler, easier, etc? no idea 4) I prefer none of the above and just do mostly whatever Janser tells me to 5) Well unfortunately they did upset the Avs bc I had a lot of money on the Avs 6) I think Toronto make a comeback vs. the Panthers now.
  13. This is the April installment of our interview series with Steve Lattimer, forward in the VHL. The Sun Gazzette is beginning a new monthly column that will cover the new playing career of Steve Lattimer, who has recently joined the VHL. Beat reporter Michael J. Smith will be sitting down with Lattimer every month in his hometown of Mooselookmeguntic, Maine. Smith: I mean, should we even talk about the VHL after all that's happened in the SBA? Lattimer: We can talk about whatever you want, you're the one conducting the interview. I don't care. Smith: Well how's VHL right now? Lattimer: Seems good, my team is giving me more updates, I'm still clicking buttons and earning and deploying. Symbiotic relationship at least until I'm done. Smith: Speaking of being done, so you're done with SBA? Lattimer: I did state that, after Lattimer's SBA Hall of Fame eligibility is exhausted (assuming he does not make it into the Hall), that I will no longer participate in that league. Smith: What does that mean for VHL? Lattimer: I think it's safe to say my VHL days would be over as well. After all, I've only been here to claim the affiliate 2 TPE per month for SBA. Smith: Even though you've enjoyed VHL? Lattimer: Just don't see myself leaning in here, I like hockey (especially playoff hockey right now) but I wouldn't have the passion for it that this league deserves. Smith: And you don't think there's a chance Lattimer makes it to the hall? Lattimer: I think there's a 1 percent chance. I think his candidacy won't be given a real discussion after all that's transpired, and unfortunately it requires too many voters to actually look beyond themselves and their narrow, biased ways of evaluating careers in order for him to have a shot. They're very contradictory but unfortunately there's no room for an intellectual discussion to be had. So no, there's little to no shot. Being excellent for 12 seasons at a level whose only contemporaries are existing hall of famers, you'd think there'd be a real conversation. There won't be, though. Oh well. Smith: And so you'll quit them, and us? Lattimer: Yep. When it's not fun anymore, you quit. But ironically even though some people there want to insult me, I've actually looked out for league interests moreso than even league leadership itself. Ask my current GM. Could have burned him big time. Instead, I'm giving him at least 7 seasons to build a winner if he wants, with someone who's going to be at the top of the league earning for a 3rd consecutive player. Smith: VHL league leadership is better than SBAs, come join us. Lattimer: I don't doubt it, but I wouldn't give you the effort you all deserve. This wraps up our next edition of our monthly column with Steve Lattimer, member of the VHL.
  14. 1. Our off-season games are in full swing! Are you participating as a player or GM in any of these? If so, how are they going? I have no idea. Am I? Someone tell me. 2. Training Camp has also started! How's your player feeling getting back on that ice? Very fat. Oh wait that's me, not my player. 3. The S87 Awards have been announced. Oskar Lindbergh @Doomsday received the Daisuke Kanou Trophy, which is awarded to the Continental Cup Playoffs MVP! Phil Strasmore @Phil and Landon Wolanin @jacobcarson877 were also nominees. Were there any surprises on any of the winners of the other categories? Why wasn't Lattimer recognized for anything? I smell conspiracy 4. What is your player working on during training camp and practices to up their game for the next season? DC and stickhandling i think? Ask Jansen 5. How is your NHL team looking as we near the end of the regular season? Alright I guess. More obsessed wtih McDavid even though he's not on my team 6. What house chore do you hate doing the most? Scrubbing pots and pans by far, and also changing the sheets
  15. 1- What's your preferred style of graphics? (Sigs, Milestones, Funny, Hockey Card etc...) - i don't think iv'e seen examples of any of these but at first blush, hockey cards sounds dope ass mug 2- What are you looking forward to for next season? for all i knew we were in season, so next season, i guess looking forward to winning? 3- What should we look for in the draft? no idea. someone who complements what skills we're good at already. 4- If you were a GM would you pick a High TPE Inactive or a Low TPE Active Player? Low TPE active since i would literally help that person earn better and more efficiently. 5- Whats a PT that you always forget about, For me its Trivia or Game Reviews. i forget about them all but Janser reminds me and i do exactly what he says. exactly. 6- What's your current favourite song? My Universe baby
  16. . Sadly we lost in the playoffs, what do you think went wrong? - i didn't know we lost in the playoffs. no one tells me anything apparently. good. 2. What will your player be doing this offseason? whatever someone tells me to do. 3. What's next for you in the VHL? if i continue on in SBA, I'll continue on in VHL. If I retire there, then I'll stop here. We'll see. 4. What does your player eat before every game? Nothing, light snacking. Want to play on a light stomach and not feel heavy. 5. What do your teammates think about this pre-game meal? I'm smarter than all of my teammates so they want to copy me. 6. Would you ever have any interest in getting a job in the VHL, ex. GM ,AGM, Updater etc. If you already have/had one, would you be interested in getting another? Nope, no thanks.
  17. Great read. I don't participate much in this league but I'm grateful communities like this exist, period.
  18. 1. Playoffs officially kickoff this week following the wild card games! How's your player's mental right now? I'm a born champion, so my mentality is to kill everyone. 2. Game 1 shut out? I pitch shutouts on the regular 3. How do you think your player will fare in the playoffs? he'll probably have the best performance in the history of the league. Or the worst. 4. When was the last time you used a payphone, if ever? I think in 2017 in Russia. 6. What book would you love to see a movie adaptation? I'd like to see the David Eddings Belgariad series.
  19. This is the March installment of our interview series with Steve Lattimer, forward in the VHL. The Sun Gazzette is beginning a new monthly column that will cover the new playing career of Steve Lattimer, who has recently joined the VHL. Beat reporter Michael J. Smith will be sitting down with Lattimer every month in his hometown of Mooselookmeguntic, Maine. Smith: How was your February in VHL? Lattimer: I think it went great. I think I became a 100 point scorer maybe? 2nd on team in points? Got laid a bunch. Good times. Smith: Wait, what? Lattimer: What? Smith: Why did you mention the part about getting laid? Lattimer: Why wouldn't I mention it? Smith: Anyways, any more progress on engaging the league? Lattimer: I think you all are seeing max Lattimer right now. I'm doing trivia, press conferences, welfare shit, i mean this is all counting for something right? I think my coaches are pleased. Smith: So it's been good? Lattimer: Yep. The one thing I asked for was an update periodically on how my guy is doing. And I've got 1-2 coaches who are doing that and i'm grateful. Smith: Big plans in march? Lattimer: March Madness. Be a homebody for 96 hours and watch it all go down. This wraps up our next edition of our monthly column with Steve Lattimer, newly minted member of the VHL.
  20. 1- Final bit of the season, how do you feel about our odds going into playoff time? I'm not sure. I think they're better though now that I'm posting on this press conference 2- What is one stat you will never upgrade - i'll never intentionally exclude a stat that could make me better! 3 - On your next player, What stat will you focus on the most? I'll only be creating a new player depending on if I continue on with SBA which we'll see...but if I do, I'll take whatever recommendations people have! 4- Would you rather be on a winning team and get no points, Or be the point leader and captain on a losing team? Depends. Do I contribute to the winning even with 0 points and gain some recognition? 5- What is your players' point goal for next season? 1 goal a game. Is that good? 6- Is your player a Sony Gamer, Xbox Gamer, PC Gamer, Nintendo Gamer or.... mobile gamer? Xbox for sure.
  21. 1. Whats your time favourite movie? Too hard to say. Tropic Thunder would rank near the top of the list though.2. If you had to recast a member of that movie as your player who would it be? Rub Tug Tuggernuts3. The team has recently acquired some new players, how should the team welcome them? Throw a big ass party and get everyone laid4. What do you think the most underrated stat is? saves. need a stopper back there.5. What's your players favorite holiday and why? Thanksgiving. Go apeshit on a bunch of food, great sports on television virtually weekend, binge drinking, there's nothing better in the world.6. Do you have a favourite part of the VHL yet? I like the folks I'm playing for even if i have a hard time keeping my teams and teammates straight. But seems like I'm doing alright thanks to their tutelage and mentorship.
  22. 1. Hannibal Barca is second in the league in points, but he's 11 behind first. Even though it's early in the season do you think it will be hard to catch him? Hannibal Barca has the mind of Confucius the heart of William Wallace and the dick of Julio Franco. This guy's going to win the scoring title. 2. Do you consider your player an offensive player, defensive, or a mix of both? I think offense because my coaches told me to get good at that but now I've been upping my checking game so the competition's about to catch a beating. 3. Which team would you consider our biggest rivals? I have no rivals. Only teams and players who think I'm their rivals. Guys want to be me. Girls want to be with me. 4. What has to happen for you to consider our season a success? Win the whole. Fucking. Thing. 5. Austin Goulet received the first star in game 94 against Halifax. Do you think that will be good for his confidence moving forward? Huge confidence boost. All it takes is one. This guy's going to be a hall of famer. 6. In one week we play Mexico City again, and currently their only loss is against us. Do you think we can beat them again? The question is, do they think they'll ever be able to beat us? We have struck fear into the heart of our opponent, a fear so powerful and gripping that these players all might retire soon.
  23. This is the February installment of our interview series with Steve Lattimer, forward in the VHL. The Sun Gazzette is beginning a new monthly column that will cover the new playing career of Steve Lattimer, who has recently joined the VHL. Beat reporter Michael J. Smith will be sitting down with Lattimer every month in his hometown of Mooselookmeguntic, Maine. Smith: How was your January in VHL? Lattimer: I think it went pretty well, I believe I got drafted to a team in Istanbul, my coaches have been pretty leaned in, so all things considered it's gone well. Smith: Does this mean you're going to go full throat in VHL now? Lattimer: Unfortunately not. Just not something I'm interested in doing. But I'm glad I've got coaches that are maxing their value with me and feel like they're getting something out of me. Smith: That's disappointing. Lattimer: Is it? Smith: Are you active in the locker room? Lattimer: I'm not really. I'm sure there are great guys there but I doubt I'm missed. Smith: So what's it been like with the Wolves? Lattimer: Coach seems great. I think this is what I've been hoping for all along. GMs that know what I do and do not bring to the table. Helping me earn easily and them deploying me in ways that benefit their team goals. Seems like it works out. Smith: Thoughts on Valentine's Day? Lattimer: Dumbest shit mankind has ever created. This wraps up our next edition of our monthly column with Steve Lattimer, newly minted member of the VHL.
  24. 1. I didnt' know we were in a slump but I feel good about our chances of bouncing back. Short memories, right, or in my case, no memory at all. 2. Definitely. We're a playoff team. You can't keep us out. We're too good. 3. Clicking the buttons, certainly. If that's not a task, then....not sure 4. I haven't seen them so I'm not at all certain. 5. Depends. If i talk to a GM and he has a preference, great, if not, then i'll pick some random shit like goalie 6. Something very light. Don't like to play heavy. 1) How do you feel about our slump, what needs to be done. 2) Do you think we will make the playoffs this season? 3) What is the best point-task 4) What VHLE Team has the best logo? 5) What position will your next player be? 6) What is your players pre-game meal?
  25. 1. Currently we are in first place. Did you expect that considering we finished 8th last season? Have no expectations so that's cool I guess. 2. Individually nobody on the team has extremely impressive stats, but we are scoring across the board. Do you think that is contributing to our success? Probably, the whole should be greater than the sum of its parts in order to be a championship caliber team. 3. Steve Lattimer and Hannibal Barca are currently tied for the team lead with 4 goals. Who do you think ends the season with more? Didn't know I was tied for team lead, don't know what I'm investing in, so let's go Hannibal. 4. Jonny Elgar, the goalie we acquired in the 5th round of the draft is currently second in the league in save percentage. Do you think he will be be to the team what Austin Goulet was last season? (late round steal) Yeah that sounds about right as long as he continues to update. 5. What's your prediction for where we are in the standings at the end of the season? 1st place naturally 6. Do you expect your player to do better or worse than last season? Had no idea how i did last season and no idea how i'm doing this season as no one really tells me what's going on so sure let's go ahead and say I'll be better
